111. Trying New Magic
Ben arrived in his village the next day. The way back home is always faster than the opposite that took him 2 days. Well, he also has more MP now and he drove faster because he wants to try his new magic soon.
He stayed in the Capital for a night because he wanted to sleep in a hotel after sleeping in a coffin last night. Besides, he also needs to buy some items for his sisters and he wanted to eat good food.
There's no trouble that is worth mentioning on his way back to the village though. The only problem is he doesn't have any partner now, so it is very boring. So this is truly the end of his mission.
His sisters are very excited when he arrived in the village. Too bad he doesn't bring any souvenirs from the forest. As if he will give them skeletons or ruins as souvenirs. But he still brings them some goods that he bought in Capital.
Ben reports what he did & found in the forest to Roubaul. He never hides something like this from the old man. Besides, he needs the old man's help to read the Books of Curse because they used old language.
"You're very lucky aren't you? Devil Slayer Magic and Books of Curse. Will you start to hunt Demons now?" asks Roubaul.
"Nah, that's too bothersome. I won't bother myself to hunt them. I'll just fight them if they attack me. Just like the Dragons, it's not like all Demons are my enemy," says Ben.
"Well, do what you want to do. So, what will you do with the Books of Curse?" asks Roubaul.
"I'll learn them, of course," says Ben.
"And you need my help, right? As I thought," says Roubaul before sighing.
Roubaul doesn't like the Curse because it used someone's negative emotions as fuel aside from MP. But he knows that Ben will still learn it even though he knows about it. It will be useless to try stopping Ben, so he will just teach Ben. He knows Ben is responsible, so he doesn't need to worry.
"When do you want to learn it?" asks Roubaul.
"After I tried my Devil Slayer Magic and have some understanding of it. I don't want to learn too many things at once because it will just slow my progress," says Ben.
"Alright, I will learn these books first then. I'm also very curious about the Curse that the Demons used," says Roubaul.
"Alright, I will go to sleep now. This mission is not difficult, but very tiring," says Ben.
Ben then leaves the Guild building and goes to his home. His sisters have waited for him with sleepy faces. They missed him and now want to sleep together even though the bed is small.
He can't say no, so they sleep together on the small bed. Luckily Wendy is small and the cats are even smaller. So they can use the bed even though it's very narrow.
The next day, Ben wants to try his new magic immediately, but the girls are pouting because they want to play with him. He has left for a few days, so they didn't have time to play with him, especially Wendy & Carla who have less time with him than Bella.
Ben can only sigh and follow their demand to play with them. The new magic won't go anywhere because it is in his body already. His sisters need his attention more than the new magic.
They go to Clover town and play there for a full day. They also meet with some of their ex-students who still stay in Clover Town. The girls are very happy today and Ben is happy seeing them happy.
Ben finally can try his Sun Devil Slayer Magic the next day. He tries it on the mountain behind the village to avoid any accident. It will be very bad if the magic goes out of control and destroy the village.
Ben starts from the most basic thing. He uses basic spells, or to be more precise, magic manipulations. Which are just generating the elements on his hands. He tries all of the Sun's elements to see the differences with his Dragon Slayer Magic.
The clearest difference is the color of each element. All of the Devil Slayer Magic's elements have reddish color in them. The fire, plasma, and solar get even redder than when he used Dragon Slayer Magic.
The other difference is the power. Ben can already feel that the Devil Slayer Magic is weaker than Dragon Slayer Magic. At least it is weaker than Dragon Slayer Magic in its basic form.
It doesn't mean that the Devil Slayer Magic can't be as strong or stronger than Dragon Slayer Magic. Slayer Magic is magic that will get stronger if used on the correct targets. Devil Slayer for Demons and Dragon Slayer for Dragons.
The proof of Devil Slayer Magic's high potential was Midas' ability to slay many Dragons in the past. Even though his element was strong, but that still means that Demons can be stronger than Dragons and that also applied to their magic.
Ben believes that there's no weak magic, there are only weak users. All of it will depend on the users' ability to optimize their magic potential. Even the most basic transformation magic can be used to kill people if used correctly.
Ben keeps using the basic spells to get used to the magic first. It is very easy to use the basic spells because of his high mastery over his Sun Dragon Slayer Magic. It is like a high schooler learning kindergarten lessons.
He uses the basic spells for an hour to reach their highest power. Also, he starts to understand the magic after an hour of training the basics. He wants to make sure that his basics are strong.
Then Ben tries some real spells, not just basic magic manipulations. But he doesn't know any Sun Devil Slayer spells, so Ben uses his Sun Dragon Slayer spells but with Devil Slayer Magic power.
Of course, the first real spell that he uses is Roar Spell. He doesn't know whether it will work because Demons don't roar like Dragons. But surprisingly, it works. He can use similar Roar spells as Dragon's Roar with every element.
"Hmm, calling it as Sun Devil's Roar doesn't sound right. I need to change the name," says Ben.
Ben ponders about the correct name to replace the Roar. He thinks of Demons' characteristics to find the best name.
"Ugh, it's hard to find the best name replacement. Let's just go with Sun Devil's Scream for now. I hope I will find any record of Devil Slayer Magic to know the real spell name," says Ben as he gives up to find another name.
After that, Ben tries the other spells like Fists and Kicks. He just use those variations on this first day. It doesn't sound much, but there are 6 elements that he needs to train, so it becomes a lot.
Ben trains until he runs out of MP in the afternoon. He almost faints of MP deficiency because he was too excited. Every new thing always makes its owner excited, as long as they like it, and Ben likes his new magic, who won't?
"Let's train this until it reaches my Dragon Slayer Magic. But I will keep it a secret and only uses Dragon Slayer Magic in public. This will be my hidden card," says Ben as he returns to his home.
