Chapter 21: My illness

I woke up feeling a little worse. "Loki. I'm feeling a little worse." "What? What's wrong? Does something hurt?" "MY eyes are blurry and I am loosing a little of my hearing. My body temperature still feels cold. I don't feel any pain but I am scared. I'm so scared Loki." He felt her body and said, "Yes you are still cold. Dammit! Before you met him how were you feeling?" "Well I was already getting tired playing with my siblings so I went to sit down. I was just feeling tired then. After I saw that man I felt a little weaker. I thought maybe it would have been due to relief from being so scared. I was thinking I would be fine in the morning but I guess its not the case." "I see. Hang on don't worry I will be back. I will have the doctor from the wolf village to help." "Y-yeah. Don't worry. I think I will be fine." "I know you will Akela. Just stay alive please." "Hmm. I will do my best." He went out and I closed my eyes.

"Uncle. I am going to the wolf villiage for help. You or Aqua need to stay and make sure she is ok until we get back ok?" "Is she worse?" "Yeah. I need to make sure she will get better." "Ok then." So Leo went in while Aqua took care of the twins.

"Hmm. Who is there?" "Its Leo honey. How are you feeling?" "Not good at all. I don't feel pain but I feel weak and tired. My vision and hearing are leaving me." "Let us know if and when it is gone ok?" "Yes uncle." "Ok I will be here with you until Loki gets back." "Ok uncle. Thank you." I closed my eyes again.

A While later Loki came back with not only mom and the doctor but Spirit as well. Dad stayed home. "Hello Leo." "Hello sir. Good to see you again." "Likewise. OK now lets take a look at her." "Yes please." Said Loki. The doc checked her over and said, "Hmm. I see." "Well doc what is it?" said Loki. "Loki Relax. Calm down." Said Leo. "How can I when she is sick like this?" "Will she be ok Doc?" said Leo. "Yes. She will be fine. With what is going on with her she will get worse before she gets better." "What is wrong with her?" "Well I will let her tell you when she is ready. She will know more of what is going on then I." "Thank you doctor." Said Luna. "Here is a prescription of what to get her to help her heal faster." Leo took it and thanked the doctor. "If there are complications come back and get me ok?" "Yes sir thank you." Said mom.

I was still awake and I said, "I know what you are going to ask." I said weakly. "I just didn't think at the time that's what it was. Mom Loki everyone. No one knows this because I was hiding it. The only one who knows is the Wolf doc because he diagnosed me with it." "Ok what is going on with you Akela?" Said mom. "Well. Loki mom everyone. I have been very sick. Remember mom that time when I said I was going for a walk? That was the day I met my uncle Kira. I went to the doctor because I wasn't feeling good. When I went and he looked at me he told me I was sick. As far as he knows there is no cure for what I have. Its just acting up right now because I haven't taken any medication since I was given it. I wanted to hide it as much as possible. He said I have had it since I was little but it didn't show up till now. I have it because my body is weaker from fighting for so long my wolf and human form. I won't die just to let you know. So don't worry. I will just get weak to the point I may not be able to walk or use my muscles anymore." "Oh Akela. I wish you would have told us sooner." Said mom. "I know. I'm sorry everyone. I didn't know it would get this bad so soon." I saw Loki being quiet and looking angry. Not long after he went out and looked like he was in a hurry. "Someone needs to go after him. I'm afraid he will do something he will regret soon." "I will go." Said Spirit. "Thanks brother." "Mom, Uncle. The doctor said I will be fine for now. Plus the vision and hearing will come back and my body temperature will be back to normal soon enough." "Yes I know. But honey. You know what that means right? You probably won't be able to turn to your wolf form again. Even if you do you won't be able to move." "I know mom. There is nothing I can do. The only way to slow the process it taking my medicine he gave me before." So I took my medicine out of the drawer and took a couple pills. "There. That is all I take for today." "Just remember to take them everyday ok?" "Yes mom." "Ok well I will stay here until your brother comes back ok?" "sure. Mom."

About an hour or 2 later Loki and Spirit came back. "Loki. Are you feeling better now?" I said worriedly and weakly. "Yes. Sorry I was just mad because soon you won't be able to do anything for yourself. It pisses me off." "Loki. I'm sorry for not telling you." "No its fine. I understand why you did it." "Oh bye mom and Spirit. Have a safe trip home." "Oh thanks Spirit. Thanks for your help." "No problem. After all we will be brothers soon enough." "Yeah we sure will." So they left.

"Hey Uncle can me and Loki talk alone for a bit?" "Yes of course. I'm sure you have to talk about your future. I will leave." "Thank you uncle." So he left and it was just me and Loki.

"Loki?" "Huh?" "Are you ok?" "Yeah I'm fine. How are you feeling?" "A little weak but I will be fine. I know I shouldn't be saying this but…" "Don't you dare tell me we shouldn't get married." Said Loki. "NO that is not it so don't worry. I just want to have kids before. WE don't know when my weakness will get worse and when it does we won't be able to have kids. I won't be able to hold them even if I do." "When I was out there I was thinking. With our parents consent which would be the elder who took me in and your mother we can get married sooner. Then we can have kids. You have your uncle aunt and parents to help us when we do. I will be there as well. So don't worry about not having help ok?" "Thank you Loki. I love you so much." "I love you too." We kissed on the lips and it got deeper. "Ok we should stop there. You are still sick. When you are better we will go to my fathers after we tell Leo what is going on ok?" "Sounds like a plan."

A few days later, I was feeling much better and back to normal. Although I still have to take medications still.

Since I don't go to school anymore I stay home and help out with the twins a lot. Loki goes to school so he can help me out when the time is right. Also even if I went to school it would be as waste because of my illness. It was almost the time for Loki to come home. We already told Leo and Auntie our plan. They thought it was a shocker at first, but when they understood the reason they understood.

"I'm home!" Said Loki. "Hey Loki. I'm holding Orion right now." "Oh hey little man. Your going to be a handsome guy just like cousin Loki." "Hehe. You are handsome." "Isn't that why you fell for me?" "Hehe part of it." "Haha thought so. OK ready to go?" "Oh yeah. Aqua I'm putting the little one down on the floor to crawl around. We are leaving!" "OK you two. Have fun." Leo saw the little one crawling and grabbed him. "Oh no you don't little guy." Said Leo. "Hehe." So we left for home.

"Is the elder in right now?" said Loki. "Yes he is give me a moment." Said the assistant. A few minutes later the head Elder came. "Hello son. Did you come to tell me something?" "Yes father can we meet in private? I also have Akela with me." "Yes we can. Follow me." So we followed him in a room where we can be alone.

"Father to start off with this has to do with Akela. Akela would you like to tell him what is going on?" "Sure." Then I told him about my illness and what we wanted to do and couldn't do it without his permission. "I see. Well I don't have a problem with it. As for your mother and father that would be up to them." "Yes that is our next step." "Thank you father for understanding." "I just don't want you kiddo's ending up in a divorce or anything down the line. I pray for you kids to get along." "Yes father thanks." "Sure."

Next step was my house. "I'm sure mom would agree. No so sure about dad though." I said to Loki. "I'm sure we will talk to your dad about your illness. Lets just hope it will go as smoothly as it did with my dad." We finally got to mom and dad's and we both took a deep breath. Then we walked in.

"Mom Dad. I am sure you know why we are here." "Yes lets go in another room. Spirit watch the others ok?" "Yes father." We went into the room and started talking.

"I'm sure mom told you about what is going on with me." "Yes she has. I'm sorry to hear about your illness. How long will it take to get worse?" "Well I started taking the medications when I was in bed and told you all. I had them sooner I just wanted to hide it. Without the medications it would get worse sooner with them it slows down. The doc doesn't know when even with the medication that it will get worse. So we already talked to the Elder about it. He agreed but was also worried. We want to get married sooner and have kids. We don't know how bad I will be in the next 3 years." It was quiet for a few minutes than finally dad broke the silence. "Well. .I am the old fashion type normally but I will agree with Loki's father. I will agree with it but you know we are still worried because you two are still pretty young." "Yes father we know. I just want to be able to feel and enjoy the moments while I still can before my illness gets worse." "I understand honey. Let us know when you two have a date ok?" "Yes father thank you. You too mom." Then we got up to leave and headed back home.

"Hey Loki? I want to go back to the village to visit soon. The one where my father grew up." "Oh ok. Is there any particular reason?" "I want to visit dad and tell him the news." "OK well tomorrow after school I will let the lady at the office know I will be missing a few days then." "Thanks and sorry about this." "NO problem."

A few days later we went to see my dad's grave. We just got there when we saw someone at the gate greeting us. "Huh? Who is that?" "Huh? Oh it looks like Aries and the gang." "Lets go." We also had Drake and his mom with us. "Hello you all. Good to see you." "Thanks. You all too." I said. "I'm here to see my dad's grave." "Oh is that so? We were headed over there as well to visit another grave. Come take along with us." "Thanks Aries." "Sure." We followed him to the graves.

I found my dad's grave and kneeled down. "Dad. Some things came up and I wanted to tell you about them." Luckily the others we far enough away not to hear visiting other graves. Except for Loki. He is here for me. "Hey dad. Well I'm sick now. There is no cure that we know of that can help me. I am taking medication to slow it down but we don't know when it will get worse. I will eventually loose use of my arms and legs. I will be helpless. So I told mom and Onyx I wanted to get married sooner. Father what would you think of something like this? Would you have agreed? I just wish I can see you face to face father. I wish you were alive to walk me down the isle on my wedding day. Well at least the illness won't kill me although It might has well since I will be helpless." "Hey don't say that Akela. Your father would not want you talking like that." Said Loki. "Well its true though. If I can't use my arms and legs what use is life. Other than looking at my kids I won't be able to hug them or even do anything for them when they grow up if this sickness gets worse." "I know that. I am sure we will figure it out ok? We will deal with it then. Who knows somewhere down the line they will have a cure and you will be able to test it and get better." "I'm not getting my hopes up. Sorry father. I was complaining to you. I came here to tell you I wanted to get married sooner. I will also be having kids. Mom and Onyx are happy Eveyone is happy here father. I just wish I can see you in person. Talk to you. Dammit! Lets go Loki. I can't be here anymore." "Woah there. Take a deep breath." "I can't Loki. I need to get away or the next breath I take will be my last." "OK ok relax. Lets go. We will take a little walk to get some fresh air ok?" "Yeah sounds good. " So we did just that.
