Alert: wave 5 will now start - rank - B-rank

The werewolves stood in front of me, their giant jaws opened wide howling at the sight of their two dead comrades. There were only two left. My hand was covered in blood and I could hardly feel it through the adrenaline. I clutched my sword in my left hand letting my right hand drop the blood rhythmically dripping. The two werewolves focused their yellow eyes on me hunching over. Then they disappeared in a cloud of dust reappearing in front of me, their claws swiping across at my face. I managed to duck their claws cutting my hair as I dipped down. Then standing back up I stuck my sword through the werewolf to my right jaw and threw my body at the last one pushing it to the ground.

My hand smashed the werewolf's head. killing it the werewolf with my sword in its mouth squirmed in anger but i kicked it to the floor. My hand really hurts if I don't kill this one. Maybe I can stay here for a little bit and buy some potions from the shop. If the next wave will be B-rank I might need to let my mana and stamina recharge. I opened my window and scrolled to the shop window. I haven't really explored this window yet. They have potions and weapons, even grimoires. They're all pretty expensive though. A lot of the good swords are locked for higher levels. I received 50roh from the C-rank gate. It seems that you get money from clearing gates higher than C but I still think 50 is a bit cheap. I scrolled to the potions section and bought three health potions and two mana potions. I drank one of the health potions and took my sword from the werewolves head then stuck it through its chest. The monsters then disappeared in a cloud of ash and the portal started to shimmer. It was B-rank this time. The same level as the lifeless knight.

A scratch defended me cracking the glass in the buildings around me. Then a massive fleshy head poked through the gate. It looked like a dragon but had no eyes. Its face was ripped and red with blood. Its jaws were bigger than me and dripping with blood, guts and saliva.I recognised it instantly. It was a wyvern. I jumped back, the massive beast waddling through the gate on its wings. I moved back stepping on some glass as I did. The massive head turned to me like lightning and screached again. I had to put my hands to my head to stop my ears from bleeding. The wyvern was much closer now and I could hardly hear. My ears were ringing, the pain pierced into my head like a hammer. I stumbled backwards tripping over my sword. When I opened my eyes the wyverns face was right in front of mine. It's wet, hot breath pressing into my hair. I had to use every ounce of willpower not to scream. I couldn't breathe fear sent shivers up my spine. I didn't want to move. This fear was unreal. I can't believe it. How did I get here sitting face to face with a wyvern. If this was me a week ago I would've shouted at the wyvern and let it eat me so why? Why am I trying so hard to survive? It's not like this even matters. It's just a game. I can die. So why? Why am I trying to protect this life? Why can't I risk what is happening to me? The wyvern moved its face away sniffing around the skyscrapers, no doubt looking for me. I moved quickly and tread even more carefully looking out for anything that might make a sound. I picked up my sword as gingerly as I could. And as quickly as I possibly could I rushed towards the wyvern. Stepping on every piece of glass I could. The wyvern screeched and flapped its wings standing up on two legs, its head swinging everywhere trying to find me. I jumped onto the building running across the glass and it broke as I ran my hands pumping as fast as they could. I jumped onto the back of the wyvern equipping my sword then plunging it into its back I stabbed it, my blade sinking into the torn skin. The wyvern started to flap its wing turreting upwards, breaking past the line of buildings, then moving faster and faster into the clouds pushing past the water, my body getting drenched, and then it stopped. For a moment everything was peaceful. The sun was setting in the distance. I was flying high above the clouds and weightless. My entire body was floating. For a second I forgot about everything. All my hate and rage just disappeared. The feeling was so glorious even if it was just for a second or a millisecond. Then Just as the crimson sun disappeared below the horizon I was pulled back down the wyvern nose diving towards the ground spiraling for the concrete. Then turning on it's back it opened its wing, stopping almost instantaneously. My sword started to slide out of its back. I was going to fall. The feeling was so familiar. The joy of just letting go. I should just embrace it.

No

I should just let go, how would I even kill a wyvern.

NO

I should just fall to the ground and then fall on my sword when I get back.

NO!!!

I mean that was what I was always meant to do, the only thing I'm good for, dying.

Fuck that

My fist glowed and punched right through the wyverns back twisting and pulling on it's spine to hold myself up.

"THIS IS MY NEW LIFE YOU WONT KILL ME THAT EASILY!"

The wyvern started to drop to the ground floating down its wings acting as a parachute. I reached the ground and the wyvern lay on the ground, still and lifeless. However it didn't disappear like the others. I walked over to its head and stood in front of its gurgling mouth, blood pouring from the giant mouth flushing from it's giant jaws. I stuck my sword into its neck and blood once again spurted out until it turned into a cloud of ash.

'Alert: wave 6 will now start - rank - A-rank'

If that was B-rank what the hell is A-rank? The ground shuddered and the portal was stretched open. My eyes widened in horror.
