Alert: Rhy has exited an S-rank gate

'Alert: Rhy has exited an S-rank gate'

I walked out of the gate, my side was killing me, the pain stabbing like a spear. My arm was leaning on Chaaya. I walked out into the sun, my eyes squinting and adjusting to the light.

Surrounding us was a group of adventurers holding their weapons, they were sweating and their faces were struck with fear.

"Ha….halt right there!"

"What?" Chaaya's voice raised with annoyance.

Celdrick walked forward his cloak flowing behind him

"Rhy, Chaaya! You're alive? That was an S rank gate if I'm not mistaken. You cleared it on your own? Wow"

A guild official rushed through the crowd, she was carrying a clipboard and a pencil.

"Put down your weapons you imbeciles, You really cleared a gate solo? Then I on behalf of the guild announce Adventurer Chaaya as S-rank and um her summon too I suppose." Dammit, again. I almost burst out laughing, for some reason I didn't care. I don't care if no one sees me as human, as long as she does. What is this feeling? This intense freeness.

I advanced to level one hundred. It came with a bunch of bonuses like an extra 100roh. I got forty skill points. And a weapon, it was a long bronze greatsword, it had a red ribbon tied to the end, it was called the sword of a hundred. I split my points between strength and speed. 'Alert: Rhy has gained a new title - "S-rank adventurer." '

'Alert: would you like to use title - "S-rank adventurer" '

I'll pass again on a new title. I need the better crafting buffs.

"Rhy, Chaaya thank everything you're alive!"

It was Avon, he pushed everyone aside and stood in front of us smiling.

After a few more minutes of the crowd fawning over Chaaya we went home. Chaaya stopped in a shop to get a grimoire so I waited outside in the street.

I stared at the sky, I stared at the white clouds floating above.

"Hey you! You damn summon, how dare you become an S-rank, you're just a squire right? So why are you that rank?"

I stood there silent staring at the sky. I don't care, I don't care anymore.

"Hey, it's ignoring us!"

The man threw a punch, the blow thudding into my face. I have a few hundred health points now so I don't think I'm in any danger, better just let them hit me.

"Hey you two stop! What do you think you're doing!?"

It was Chaaya, dammit she couldn't just let them get bored.

"Who the hell do you think you are talking to us that way!?"

They walked up to her trying to be imposing, I almost snickered as they walked. But then the man pulled up his fist. There were three other guys.

His fist started to move it was like slow motion but anger still rose to the surface. I dashed in front of him, grabbing his arm and tightening my grip. Crushing the bones I stared into his eyes, anger drifting out of me.

'Alert: Skill activated - "Demonic stare" '

My hand crushed his hand as I stared into his eyes, the man started crying, his friends running away. He was sweating and terrified.

"What are you, you freak."

I let his arm go and he ran off screaming.

"Well now that was a rather terrifying display!"

I looked to my side, there was a man in light armour, he had black hair tied into a ponytail. His face looked old and his arm was scratching the back of his head. He had a kind fatherly smile as he looked at us.

"And who are you?" I said my eyes annoyed and my tone flat.

"Caius!" Chaaya ran forward and hugged him, her arms wrapping around his waist.

"Well now. You talk? That's rare."

"Yeah and you must be the summoner who saved her."

"Oh well I guess she told you about me? I heard that she made S-rank and flew here to congratulate her.

But to be honest I have another reason for visiting my favourite apprentice. I heard she has only summoned one, I wanted to find out but I think I know now. So can an old man take you for a drink and get to know you, Rhy was it?"

"Sure."

Chaaya left for home whilst I talked to Caius. A dragon appeared from high in the clouds and lifted him high up into the air. I formed wings behind me and followed.

"Rhy I'm a simple guy so I'll get straight to the point, I don't like you."

"I don't like you either"

"Hahaha I wasn't expecting that, see I see Chaaya as a daughter and you showed some really demonic behaviour back there, and I've seen summons go crazy. I've seen them slaughter their masters so I'm here to tell you to leave. Go live in the mountains or something, just leave my Chaaya alone before you hurt her."

"I won't do that, I'm sorry but I'd never hurt her. Chaaya Is the one who keeps me awake when I'm like that. She is the reason I'm alive and I will help her achieve her dream no matter what."

"Well now that's good I'm happy to say that you don't seem like you'd hurt her but just know if you lay a single finger on her I will kill you. Now onto this business of you hating me? What have I done to offend you?"

"Hah, you humans you're all the same. You're sitting in a living boeing and treating it like a couch. You don't even hesitate to use everything else for your own purposes, you make me sick. You treat us summons like slaves, don't even see us as human and throw us away when we die, you're all evil filth."

"Well now that's quite the view but you see all my summons are alive. This is Drake saying hello Draky!"

A roar sounded from the head of the dragon, it was alive, maybe this guy wasn't so bad. I don't know if he loves Chaaya so much to go to these lengths then he must be an alright guy.

"Now what you said about humans does that apply to Chaaya"

"No"

"Why is she exempt?"

"Because she's the human who has risked her life for me so many times. You saw on the street how she stood up to them, she's my light in the darkness."

"Well that's quite nice. I've made up my mind. I like you Rhy now I should go there are plenty of gates over this world and I need to clean up the eternal gates I wish you both luck and say goodbye to Chaaya for me."

He charged off his dragon hurtling through the sky, the air cracking as they flew.

That was a strange encounter.
