[HopelessHikikomori] Fallen Down

Chara was once again just floating in the soulspace of Akane.

If she was honest, she was a bit bored.

A lot has happened since the two of them first met and if she was completely honest with herself, she also looked down upon her at their first meeting.

Why shouldn't she?

The first time they met, Akane was just a hollow shell of a person.

Perpetually smiling like a certain skeleton, acting in accordance to people's expectations. It seemed as if Akane was only acting like she was interested in other people, without actually doing so.

If that isn't the shell of a person, what is?

Chara chuckled at that thought.

For a while she thought, that the reason why she was the first one to wake up, that the reason was, that Akane needed her...

That Frisk needed her, that nobody else could possibly fill these empty eyes of her.

How wrong she was.

Even if she didn't wake up, even if she wasn't there. That girl would have just done fine by herself.

Her actions proved that.

The first time her emotions really welled up, was when she lost something dearly to her.

That was the first time her weak emotions, unable to stand against the emotional waves of other people, broke through and burst like the infinite expanse of a supernova.

At first, Chara thought that it was just a one time thing.

Until it was not.

Akane started truly opening up to her family, then her friends.

First Majeta, then Momo, even to the four silly girls of the SOS club.

Not ending there in the slightest, Akane slowly started to regain her trust in other people, willing to share the burden on her shoulders to over people.

It was her own hubris that created that misunderstanding and while Chara felt a bit sad and jealous about that development, she was more proud and happy for Akane.

Especially since these bond she created, made her overcome a near death situation.

Now it was her turn to clean this mess up.

Seeing that remaining parasite, clinging onto Frisk, almost risking Akane's existance, disgusted her.

Chara spat on it, before completely vaporizing it into nothingness with her powers.

Chara smiled.

"Don't worry, partner. Big sister will always be here to protect you from the shadows."

Thinking that she already erased that pathetic thing from it's existance, Chara stopped her magic, only to realize that a button fell onto the ground the moment she did.

Confused, she picked it up.

It was just a regular, ol, big, red button. Just like the one's in cartoons.

"Huh, this is weird. I could swear that most of the things in Akane's soulspace are just random scattered memories of Frisk during her life, but what the hell is this red button."

Chara said to herself, trying to remember a big red button.

She continued so, until she remembered that she actually got rickrolled on a random piece of paper here and that this button was probably just as random as that.

Chara shrugged as she realized that.

"Might as well press it."

That was a mistake though, as suddenly, the world, or better said, her field of vision started to spin rapidly.

Making even someone like her, with high dynamic vision, dizzy.

Chara was even starting to consider to either fall unconscious, or just to stomach it.

That was until she started to see stars and a certain theme was ringing in her ears.

(Star, Orchestral Cover by Osirois, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4kBrtZNJ5zA)

For a moment, nostalgia overwhelmed her, making her forget her dizziness.

Chara wasn't particularly attached to stars. Rather, her best memories were under stars.

Spending time with Asriel in Waterfall, making wishes to the Echoflowers, looking up to the fake stars in the sealing.

Even if they were not real stars, for the residents of the Underground, they were all they had.

Especially once again, after she thought she died, with Frisk, walking alongside Monsterkid, seeing her father's castle under the starry ceiling.

But the strongest memories about stars for her, was when her and all her friends escaped the Underground.

She remembered as if it was yesterday, a beautiful night sky, the cool breeze brushing against her skin and holding hands with Frisk and her little brother Asriel, receiving their warmth on that cold night.

The reactions of her friends to real stars was the highlight, with Alphys just admiring the stars with open mouth, Undyne screaming in disbelief that the starry night sky is even more beautiful than depicted in ANIME, Papyrus innocent question as what these shiny things in the sky are and Sans response of just saying that humans call these stars, before pissing off into the entrance of the underground again, using one of his sortcuts.

But at the end, the most vivid memories of hers that night, was when Toriel and Asgore were exchanging looks, as if they were ready to forgive one another. Sadly that didn't happen though.

Sadly, her journey through memory lane ended as abruptly as it started and Chara realized that she was in the air.

Barely able to process the sudden transition, Chara reacted a second to late and that just resulted in her just falling face first on the ground.

Standing up, while feeling the pain on her nose from faceplanting the ground, wasn't exactly the most fun experience one could have.

But once she overcame that sharp pain, Chara could open her eyes and observe her surroundings.

The first thing she realized, was that she was in some sort of alleyway, but this alleyway was different from the alleyways she was used to.

Most of the alleyways she was in, were dirty alleyways in the middle of the ghetto. Alleyways filled with all sorts of crimes and suspicous thing.

This one, this alleyways was clean and pristine like an alleyway out of the center of the city, where appearances must be kept.

The only other noticeable thing aside the cleanliness of this alleyway, was the fact that it was plastered with posters.

Suspicious, to say the least.

Assessing this situation, Chara realized one big thing. She should have noticed immediately.

She had a body!

Panicking for a moment, about the possibility of having dragged Akane into this situation, Chara was about to flip out, but then she realized that Akane's soul isn't here in the first place.

The only thing that was there, was here 1/8 of a soul, inside a body that was suspiciously close to the one she currently had.

Calming down, Chara walked out of the alleyways, pulling her green hoodie and her rainbow scarf down.

She shouldn't appear too suspicious, walking out of the alleyway like that, even if that was basically her vigilante outfit.

After all, she was just wearing a white shirt under a green hoodie, paired with brown paints, which are tugged into slightly reddish tie boots.

Maybe the fingerless black gloves could be a bit weird, but aside from that she had quite the natural haircolor and eyecolor, when she wasn't determined, so she shouldn't stand out.

Observing her surroundings, it just seemed to be a peaceful neighborhood for her.

She continued to observe her surrounding, in the hope of recognizing a building, a sign, anything basically, until a poster came flying into her face.

Taking the poster off, she looked at what was printed on it.

"Come visit Reitaisei this year...

...every Fumo is here this year!"

Seeing this, Chara used a bit of magic on it, to strengthen the material this poster is made off.

Akane was quite the Touhou fan, even before opening up to her friends, taking care of her Fumos was the only time Akane seemed really alive.

Putting this poster into her pocket in the side of her hoodie, immediately another poster crash landed on her face.

A bit tilted on this consecutive happening, Chara was about to rip this poster to pieces, barely fighting of the urge to actually do that.

After all, she needed to gather information and surprisingly more often than not, posters had important information!

Sometimes.

Reading it, it seemed like it was some kind of advertisement to a cult named Yamanus.

Seeing this, Chara immediately crumbled this poster and evaporated it.

Many of her friends suffered because of cults and religions and while religions were something she couldn't really attack, because most of the world followed them, cults were something that she could at times.

She especially liked destroying the leaders of these cults who feed on the insecurities and fear of their followers, promising protection or some kind of salvation, while fully exploiting them.

She chuckled up thinking about the times she did that.

The looks on their faces when their believers turned on them, the accusing words of them as the realisation dawns on them, the things they called her as she was approaching closer to them.

Human scum that couldn't fight for themself, yet act as if they are the second coming of christ.

She didn't care if their was a god or not, she didn't care if their was divine retribution or not.

If their really was one, they should come down themself and do all the things their supposed apostle promised!

The only one you should truly and genuinely belief in and blindly trust, is yourself.

God can only be in oneself, and if you are not ready to blindly belief in yourself, god is not yet inside of you.

To accept your flaws and the fact that you always will do mistakes, that is the source of her power.

Blindly trusting herself and believing, this is the essence of magic.

To truly know oneself and who you are, what you are capable off and what not, truly knowing oneself.

Only then, can you awake your personal magic.

But slowly, a creepy feeling spread out in her stomach. As if I accidentally overlooked an important detail.

Looking around me again, she noticed that the density of these so called Yamanus posters was way more higher than any other poster.

If she had to guess, the split was about 70 to 30.

This could only mean two things.

Either this Yamanus cult was an accepted cult around the world, just like Scientology, or this Yamanus cult indeed wasn't a cult and instead another world religion.

But both meanings had an obvious conclusion.

She was definetely not on planet earth as she knew anymore. Cause on the version of earth she knew about, their was no big belief named 'Yamanus' and even if their was one this big, it wasn't carried out in public, like here.

So, either she is on a different planet, or a different timeline. Hopefully not a different universe, because that would be the most troublesome to deal with.

Sighing, Chara realised that it really has come to this. That realisation meant, that she couldn't gather information half-assed.

Time to use her old partners patented way to get her way!

Flirting!

Now looking for the next unassuming sucker, that didn't expect a conversation with a cute girl such as her.

Luckily, finding people like that was quite easy for her.

People that have found their true soulmate, tend to have a certain wavelength.

What if she flirts with a playboy, who has his feet in multiple boats?

It didn't matter! Knocking them cold out is always a viable option after all.

There was just one glaring problem. That was the fact that the street were practically deserted.

Only occasionally did someone walk past her on the other side of the street. Annoyed by that fact, she started taking up her pace, to find a better standpoint for her investigation, like finding the town center on her way.

That lasted for a while, until she reached a place that looked like a main street.

While it also wasn't populated that heavily, at least there were more people than it whatever side street she was.

About to step foot onto the main street, Chara felt someone lightly tapping on her shoulder.

"Hello there, miss. Could you please follow us?"

All according to plan.

She felt these people presence since a while ago and now they finally decided to go out of their hiding spot.

Getting information out of stalkers is always so helpful, they were the ones that had the most detailed information.

"Well..."

----------------------------------------------------------

Before Chara could fully answer them, one of these people just wacked her over her head with a baseball bat and another one just pulled a bag over it.

She didn't fall unconsious. Losing your consciousness was for undetermined people.

But she still let them drag her into an alleyway, acting as if she was out.

These people caused quite the commotion with that kidnapping of theirs. Yet, nobody outside of their group reacted in any way, as if that was a normal thing.

Also, they all wore some sort of uniform, closely resembling the one that she saw on all posters around the city.

Chara internally sighed.

If her hunch proved right, this will be the kind of world that annoyed her the most.

The kind of world that was ruled by religion.

They dragged her into an abandoned alleyway, finally stopping dragging her head all over the ground.

After some rough treatment, someone finally poured water over her face, hoping to wake her up.

Slowly opening her eyes, Chara was quite shocked seeing her perpetrators faces.

Why?

These were one of the ugliest people she had ever seen, but that was beside the point.

Time to put an Oscar worthy act in front of them to get the most information out of these idiots.

"What is your issue! I was just having a walk and all of a sudden you weirdos..."

They immediately reacted by slapping her across her face.

Perfect.

"Seize! Uglyhood! In the name of Toy, we will arrest you!"

Uglyhood? Toy?

Probably a criminal and some sort of organization under yamanus.

"What? Uglyhood? What's that supposed to be?"

Chara continued with her act, almost really looking as if she was distraught.

"Don't act dumb. You are wearing hood, also you don't have your badge on your body, which makes you even more suspicious."

Badge? Now that he said that, Chara realized that most of the people she saw, wore some kind of metal emblem on their body.

Probably putting citizens into different classes. In the context of a world religion, that probably meant the more faithful you are, the higher your standing is.

Wearing no badge would be probably very suspicious, yet proved that this world was rotten.

She could have simply lost it, or forget it somehow somewhere, yet these people didn't even ask and just immediately kidnapped her.

"I just lost my badge somewhere, that's why I was running so frantically! Yet you priests do something like that! I call for my lawyer! You are infringing on my human rights!"

Immediately after she screamed that, one of these atrocities seemed to hesitate. Silently whispering to the one that looked like the squady leader.

"Silence! Don't you see how ugly she is! Pair that with the hood and the missing badge and there is no doubt she is uglyhood."

Ugly?

"HELL! DO YOU EVEN HAVE REAL EVIDENCE THAT I AM UGLYHOOD! IF YOU DON'T, UNHAND ME!"

Suddenly, the leader of them just pulled out a gun.

"Well, we have an easy test here. Uglyhood can't be harmed with ordinary guns, that means if you die, you are indeed innocent, if you do not, you are uglyhood."

Chara was about to vomit blood as she heard that.

Seeing that his goons just started complimenting him, how logical and what a genius he is.

Somehow this reminded her of something?

Right, the witch hunt in europe! You bind a a rock on a so called witch and if she drowns she is innocent, if she floats up again, a witch.

This was the same logic as in a witch hunt!

Slowly breathing in, Chara tried her best to calm down.

"Wait, you are making a big mistake if you sho-"

*BANG!*

"All these lower classes talk way too much. Who the hell would even lose their badge, if not them? Geez. Boys, dispose of the body. Let's find another D-Class in a hoodie!"

They all happily agreed.

Their smiles immediately faded, as the supposed corpse stood up, smiling with a seemingly excited smile.

"How..."

Pulling out the bulled out of her head, Chara just answered.

"How I am still awake is none of your business. I warned you. I warned you that the consequences of you shooting me were heavy. Just know this."

In the blink of an eye, a barrier was errected, blocking the entrance to this alleyway.

"I am going to show you, what true fear is."

----------------------------------------------------------

After a rather uneventful massacre, the only one left standing was the supposed leader. Sitting on his arse, pissing his pants.

There was only reason why he was still alive.

"I never asked, but was does 'Toy' even mean?"

Trembling, he answered in a shaky voice, hoping the person in front of him would spare him.

"It mean Templars of Yamanus."

Chara just nodded hearing this. This confirmed her theory about this being part of Yamanus.

She knocked him out cold and started to manipulate the memories of everyone here involved.

...

That just mean she was inducing short term amnesia by hitting their heads REALLY hard.

She did that in the blink of an eye.

"Hey. How about you go out of your hiding place there? I am rather annoyed at the current situation and you don't seem to be part of these people here, or am I wrong?"

To her surprise, said person immediately went out of their hiding spint, which was right behind her.

Interested in the other's person, Chara turned around, meeting a very familiar pair of eyes.

"How nice of you to come out. I didn't really expect that, to be honest."

This is going to be interesting.
