Talent Above Humans (4)

Today's chapter, and seventh day trying to revive this series...

...

Arche managed to reach the level seventy-two.

Although he failed to defeat the monster of this level, this result was already three levels higher than the second-best during the entrance examination.

He was inferior to Sylvia, but honestly, it was unfair to compare him to her.

A difference in three levels could not seem like much, but here it was the difference between tier six and tier seven. It was well known that at higher tiers, the chasm between tiers became more apparent.

In normal circumstances, a tier six could never defeat someone at tier seven.

Tier seven was one tier below becoming a high-level awakened. It was the highest level to which most awakened could reach with just talent.

Tier eight awakened were very rare. They were busy with special missions or on standby in case of an emergency. Due to this, tier seven was the highest level one could meet under normal circumstances.

They were the elite.

In fact, one of the requirements to become a professor in Sanctuary's First was to become a tier seven awakened.

Arche's results meant that he was as strong as some of the professors in Sanctuay's First.

This revelation made many of the students observing him put on solemn expressions.

For most of the students here, they were faced for the first time with the difference in talent between humans and the foreign races.

When Arche left the virtual world, he seemed dissatisfied.

"… Did one of the students really beat the seventy-ninth level?" He asked Professor Sol.

She nodded. "Sylvia did. You did well, but your performance was a bit worse than hers."

Professor Sol's words rubbed Arche the wrong way, but she did not care.

"Anyone else wants to try?"

"Let me this time." This time, one of the celers raised her hand.

It was K'erta.

She pushed her glasses up as her yellow pupils glistened with interest.

"I want to try it."

"Go ahead."

K'erta nodded and excitedly walked to the pod.

Somehow, her ears seemed to be twitching with excitement.

One minute later, she appeared in the virtual world.

Just like before, a screen appeared showing her run.

She looked around curiously, studying the virtual world with interest.

When the monster of the first level appeared, her eyes lit up.

"I see… Amazing, the realism is very high despite it being an outdated technology."

With a gesture, a ball of sand-like silver particles appeared hovering above her right hand.

'Is that her weapon?' I asked myself.

[Nanobots. It has been a long time since I saw that style of battle.] The demon, who had been silent until now, explained.

'Nanobots? Do you know what that is?'

The demon nodded.

[It's a style of battle used by some technologically advanced civilizations. She controls the nanobots using her mental energy, mana, and the preprogrammed code installed in the nanobots. It allows for a very versatile style of battle.]

I nodded and focused on K'erta.

She aimed her hand at the creature she was facing. The nanobots immediately turned into a lance that pierced the creature.

With just an attack, the creature was killed.

After that, it was a showcase of how versatile the nanobots were.

During the following levels, K'erta turned the nanobots into dozens of different shapes, using them to kill the creatures in dozens of different ways.

Sometimes, she turned the nanobots into arrows, other times, they became needles, swords, or knives.

Her performance was even more overwhelming than Arche's.

"Another monster," I muttered when she reached level seventy.

Even at this level, where Archa was already struggling, she still seemed nonchalant.

The only difference from when she started was that now she needed three attacks to defeat the monsters instead of one.

"Are all the celers and eblors this strong?" Ley asked with a frown.

I shook my head.

"I don't think so. But it's clear that they are stronger than humans."

Their control of mana and styles of battle were much more sophisticated.

K'erta continued advancing until level seventy-five, where she finally started to struggle.

The enemy of this level could shrug off the versatile attacks of the nanobots without receiving an injury. K'erta tried several different methods to take it down, but the result was the same.

Eventually, after almost ten minutes of battle, she heaved a sigh.

"I give up." She announced.

I narrowed my eyes.

"She did not show all her cards."

Unlike Arche, who gave his all before being defeated, K'erta seemed like she was still far from her limits.

However, she did not have any intention of showing her entire strength.

"I guess not everybody is so dumb as that eblor."

She probably only revealed the surface of her combat power. Smart, considering that she was in enemy territory.

However, that was bad news for me, considering that Harold asked me to find a way to make them reveal as many of their cards as possible.

It was not easy, though.

If I try to provoke them carelessly, they'll easily notice my intentions as long as they are not stupid.

I must find a way to provoke them without making them suspicious.

'Demon, do you have an idea?'

The demon did not reply.

He probably was not interested.

Ley noticed my pensive expression.

"Is anything wrong, brother?" She asked.

I hesitated briefly and decided to explain the situation to her. Maybe she has a good idea.

To my surprise, she did have one.

"Let me try something." She said after thinking for a moment and closing her eyes.

A few seconds later, she opened her eyes and I felt a wave of mental energy coming out of her toward the eblors.

The mental energy was very stealthy. Nobody else but me seemed to notice it.

"What did you do?" I asked curious.

"Just watch." She smiled slyly and raised her voice. "Brother, doesn't it look like the celers are stronger?"

I was surprised by her sudden and obvious attempt to provoke the eblors.

'There's no way that will work.' I thought to myself.

It was so unnatural that anyone could see through it.

But I was surprised again when I saw the eblors furrowing their brows.

"Princess, let me go this time." One of them stepped forward.

Hyacinth thought briefly and nodded.

Somehow, they seemed strangely agitated.
