Fortune teller

Gazing up at the sky, the morning sun rose overhead as it shone down.

Elsie took a deep breath as her journey was beginning today and now. She hurled the tied-up clothes which she tied with silk clothes over her back.

Then proceeded to make her way out of the mountain. The foul smell was no longer on her body and her beauty could also be seen even though she was so still skinny.

Perspiration dripped from her forehead as the scorching sun was hitting her on her journey out of the mountain, "So what do we do now?"

"We need to make money!" The young man blurted out.

"Money? What do you mean by making money?" Hearing those words, Elsie's eyes lit up.

Ever since she came to this world, she had never smelled or touched money, even to see one was by a miracle. That was because she Iived in hiding In other to avoid those she stole from.

"Yes, you're going to become a fortune teller, and then make money."

"Fortune teller?" She had her hopes of touching money raised, but upon hearing those words, she suddenly felt as though a bucket of cold water has been poured on her head. How can she be a fortune-teller? she doesn't tell people's destiny!

"Don't worry, leave the fortune-telling to me, I just need you to find us a spot." The young man chuckled at her thought.

She continued walking until she walked into a new town that was bustling with people. For her to be able to amble here, notified her that this was a nearby town.

A surge of joy gushed through her heart, she was finally free. No more running or hiding, she can now freely walk around without fear of being caught.

She wandered into the market as her eyes darted around every now and then. She was secretly scouring for a spot where they could carry out their fortune teller scheme.

Her eyes finally spotted a fortune teller tent which people were swimming in and out of it like bees.

Her lips slowly curled up into a grin as she excitedly rubbed her hands together.

"Ehh...What is your name?" She just realized that she didn't know the young man's name.

"Zamiel" The young man responded with an indifferent face.

"Ok...I have a plan to get us a spot, you just need to..." Her lips curled back into a grin as she schemed up a ploy to get them a spot, and then they made their way to the fortune-teller's tent to carry out their scheme.

Elsie went into the tent and took a seat opposite the fortune teller. She sat in a way that was reminiscent of an enlightened expert.

The fortune-teller lifted her head to stare at a white-haired skinny young girl with large eyes in front of her. She had a very pretty face but she was just too skinny as though she hadn't eaten in a month or so.

"Do you want your fortune told," The fortune-teller was an exquisite woman in her early thirties with dark skin and curly hairs? She had an elegant deposition of a noblewoman.

Elsie's eyes were half-open, as she fiddled with a bead chain in her hand, "I have not come here to have my fortune told, rather I am here to tell yours." Her tone had changed from a normal girl's tone to one that an expert in fortune telling would use.

The fortune teller was taken aback for a moment as she intently gazed at the skinny girl in front of her suspiciously. Who would barge into someone's tent to tell him or her their fortune? Who even does that?.

"Don't worry, I know what you are thinking. I only came into your tent because fate has brought us together," Elsie nodded as she continued to fiddle with the bead chain in her hand.

"Alright...I will indeed like to have my fortune told," The fortune teller said with suspicion-filled eyes. She already decided that right here and now, she would expose Elsie. Trying to swindle me humph!

Elsie normally, knew that the woman was suspecting her, and she could not help but muse in her heart at what the woman's reaction would be after she told her fortune to her.

"Ahem... May I have a brush and a paper?"

"Sure," The fortune-teller narrowed her eyes as she handed her a brush and a paper.

Elsie nodded her head in satisfaction and proceeded to dib the brush inside the ink cup. Then she passed the paper and brush to the fortune teller, "Put down a word."

The fortune-teller didn't hesitate a bit and did just as she was told. She wanted to see just how far the skinny girl will keep acting.

Elsie placed her palm onto the woman's palm as she slowly closed her eyes as though she was thinking about something important. Sometimes her face would alter from that of natural to frown and then back to normal.

She stayed like this for a whole thirty seconds before she opened her eyes.

If one looked closely they could see wisdom dancing about in her eyes.

She glanced at the fortune teller in front of her with a smile plastered on her face. "I see a woman of twenty to twenty-one yrs, I believe she's your daughter, no? And not only that I believe that, but she is also expecting. Today before dawn, if you don't make it at home, your daughter will die without a doubt." She blinked her eyes with the smile still visible on her lips.

She conserved her posture as an expert and continued fiddling with the bead chain in her hand. She was imitating the fortune-tellers from her world, the ones that Monika would always yank her to, during festivals on earth.

The fortune-teller instantly jolted up, a complicated look was plastered on her face. No one, not even her husband knows that their daughter was expecting. The lass has mistakenly gotten herself pregnant and if her husband was to find out, he would slay that lass without a doubt.

The skinny girl in front of her, just mentioned that her daughter will die if she doesn't make it home before dawn. Does this mean her husband has finally found out? If he had then her daughter was truly in danger!

Seeing the doubt in the fortune-teller's eyes, Elsie grinned, " If you doubt me, you can sit back and wait till dawn, then go home and see If your daughter is alive or not."

The fortune-teller hesitantly stood up and gazed at Elsie with a complicated look. One could ascertain that she was pondering whether to go or not, However, in the ending, she still chose to go, as she ran out of the tent without looking back.

Elsie sighed the moment the woman ran out. Finally, she got a spot! She felt like the gods were helping her because this woman's fortune was just so perfect. None of what Elsie told the woman was a lie.
