It has been 3 months since the incident. It made a small ripple across the magical Britain. The Daily Prophet said there was a hidden Death Eater hunter, while the DMLE stated that K.B. was a vigilante and warned the public that Death Eaters was dangerous and they should leave the apprehending to the Aurors. It took a week for the news to die down and for everyone to guess who K.B was.
The real K.B. was sitting in the workshop of the store and engraving few personalised item designs for few customers that had left a request. After he finished his work, he waited in case more customers would come for personalised items. While he waited, Kenneth dove into his mind scape and relived the memory of the duel that happened in the pub. He has been doing this whenever he had free time. Analysing and reanalysing everything, backwards and forwards.
There were a few things he noticed, the most important was that every spell had different speed at which it would travel through the air, but even the slowest ones travelled at 5 m/s while the fastest ones could go above 10 m/s depending on the amount of magic channelled into the spell. Typical human reaction speed was 0.25s, so even if you are able to react to the incoming spells, it would be incredibly difficult to move your entire body out of its way in time. Since the accuracy of the spells hitting the target decreases with distance, these duels were happening with 10 meters. He also noticed that the spells do not get affected by gravity or wind while it travelled through the air.
The Aurors and the Corrow siblings did dodge few spells, when Kenneth analysed their dodge skills through slow motion, he concluded few things from his observations. The dodging had to happen while the opponent was in the middle of their spell casting. This was because the target was chosen at the end of the wand movement, so if you dodge before they started casting, the opponent would simply point their wand at you after you dodge. The spells that was casted with an incantation was the easiest to dodge as you know when they started casting the spell, wordless spells were incredibly difficult to predict. This was especially so if there are multiple duels or when there are multiple opponents around you.
Many of his finding made Kenneth feel a stupid, he actually arrogantly thought that he would be a formidable wizard due to his innate talents. He realised that it was luck that allowed him to catch the Corrow siblings, if they had made a move the moment they saw him, then Kenneth would be very much dead. Thankfully, being in his fox transformation caught them off guard. He actually admired the skills of wizard and witches that was mention in the Harry Potter books, especially wizards like Grindelwald, Dumbledore and Voldemort. He even remembered Grindelwald was able to fend of 30 aurors by himself with the help of a single spell. Heck, even Nagini who survived that wizarding war was a better duellist than Kenneth. He could look down on any wizard when it comes to innate talent and affinity, but he absolutely could not underestimate them when duelling them.
One thing that did help Kenneth was his soul eye, he could see when the opponent channelled their magic, this gave him a few milliseconds of an advantage and a warning compared to other wizards and witches. But even his boxing career only ever prepared him to face a single opponent, not multiple. Kenneth had a lot of training to do. He realised that in a duel, he had to take the initiative, and had to keep moving, otherwise, countering attacks was the same as asking to die.
The other thing he noticed was that he still lacked knowledge. Kenneth knew a lot of the spells that was casted, but there was still few to many he had no clue of. For example, there was a spell casted by the Alecto that had an acidic effect of the magical shield of an auror, or the spell casted by an auror that had the effect of turning the ground into quicksand. So, for the past few months, other than practicing his innate magic and refining his core, he had been racking his brain into getting more books on magic. the books available in Diagon Alley and Knockturn Alley simple was not enough.
"Jason, there are customers that want a high security personalized spatial ring made for them waiting, should I send them in?" it was Jennet that had come into the workshop to inform him, she had started to call him with his first name, something that Kenneth did not mind as he considered her as part of family.
Few minutes later, Jennet walked in with 4 other people, a man, a woman and two little girls. Kenneth was immediately draw into the youngest of the girl, there was something about the girl that was different from the rest, he even felt a weird pull towards her as though she was somehow related to him. Peeling his eyes off her, Kenneth looked at the others who had walked in.
The family of four was definitely good looking, but instead of saying its natural beauty, it was more of because of the way they dressed and the way they carried themselves, the man wore a black 3-piece suit and the woman wore a simple black turtle neck sweater with navy-blue high waist A-line shirt that reached down to three quarters of her legs, even the two daughters were neatly dressed and they hair plated back. The entire family had black hair and healthy pale skin, the mother and the two daughters had blue eyes while the man had dark brown eyes. When Kenneth looked at them with his soul eye, he instantly labelled them as magically talented, this was because both adults was at a blue core stage, he even saw they both had healthy but incomplete vein systems in them, while the daughters had already awakened their red cores. He also saw a black veins like structure that had started to spread from youngest daughter's core, he thought, "Is that the reason why I'm drawn to her?"
"Welcome," said Kenneth then said to Jennet, "Jennet, please be a darling and serve our guests tea, as for the two little ladies, serve them some juice." Jennet asked their tea and juice preferences and left after taking their orders.
"Jennet said you wanted a secured personalised spatial ring? How many exactly?" asked Kenneth.
"We need four, one for each of us. I heard that you can make it so only the person who it was made for could access it?" asked the man.
"Yes, but you should know only those who is able to channel magic is able to use the items, I'm afraid the two girls won't be able to use them," said Kenneth.
"We understand, but we are preparing for the future. They are already going through magical training, so it won't be long before they will be able to use it," said the man.
"Fine, I need your names," said Kenneth. Although he had a faint idea to who they might be, he did not want to guess, after all, there are thousands of witches and wizards in magical Britain.
"I am Oscar Greengrass and this is my family, my wife, Charlotte Greengrass, two daughters Daphne and Astoria Greengrass," said Oscar while he pointed at the others as he introduced them.
After greeting each one and stating his own name, Kenneth asked for the size of the internal space they wanted, and quoted the prices for each standard size. He also asked the specific aesthetics of the rings they wanted. As the many times he had done from before, he drew his wand and fake waved it, while creating the rings they wanted.
He then said, "I've also placed a self-fitting charm on the rings for Daphne and Astoria, so the rings will grow to fit them as they do."
"Thank you, Mr. Webb," said Charlotte smiling, the women had kept looking at him while he was making the rings, although her husband was just as good looking as the ring maker, the slightly tanned skin and silver eyes gave him a mysterious and exotic look. Plus, for a store keeper, Kenneth was dressed neatly in a black shirt and pants with dark blue suspenders going over each of his shoulders. Of course, Kenneth had Nagini to thank for his fashion style, otherwise he would have just worn sweatpants and a simple white T-shirt. Charlotte thought to herself, "Of course I can look at him, in this world, who doesn't like beautiful things."
"You are welcome, Mrs. Greengrass," said Kenneth, he looked at the door and saw someone had walked in, he had asked her telepathically to come meet him, he said, "Ah, what good timing, let me introduce you to my beautiful wife, Nagini Webb. Gini, this is the Greengrass family, this is Oscar, this is Charlotte, and these two young ladies and Daphne and Astoria."
The family of four, turned their head to look at Nagini and all of their eyes lit up as they greeted her. Nagini said while she made her way next to Kenneth, "Hello, hope you found out service good."
"We are very pleased with the items, Mrs. Webb," said Oscar, smiling at Nagini. While Charlotte smiled, she sat a little bit straighter as she became conscious of her looks in front of Nagini, she thought to herself, "What a couple. Beautiful things really do attract each other."
"Well, were do we pay for the items?" asked Oscar.
"You can do so with Jennet, the girl that escorted you here," replied Kenneth. As the family of four got up to leave, Kenneth said, "Wait," there was a reason he asked Nagini to come meet them, and he had already explained to her why he asked her to come. The Greengrass Family had something that Kenneth needed, while the Kenneth had something the Greengrass family was desperately looking for.
"Is there anything else you might need, Mr. Webb?" asked Oscar.
Kenneth held Nagini's hand and said, "My wife was unfortunately a victim to the Maledictus curse; however, she is cured now. Your youngest daughter Astoria, I'm not entirely certain, but she gives the feeling of a bloodline curse. is it true?"
The family of four was utterly shocked into silence. When young Astoria's core activated, they found out that she had the bloodline curse, they would have rather have her live a life of a squib, a muggle born to a magical family, than carry the curse. The curse normally turned the host into a permanent magical creature, but there were instances that the curse killed the host, each outcome was devastating to their family. As for Astoria, she continuously felt weak and lacked energy of a young girl.
Astoria looked sad as she looked down at her feet, while Daphne's eyes widen by a large margin. The two adults composed themselves quickly and Oscar asked Nagini, not believing his ears, "is that true?"
"Every word of it," smiled Nagini as she replied.
"You are right Mr. Webb. Astoria has the curse, we have been looking everywhere, including overseas for a solution but it has been a meaningless search. Please, Mr. Webb, if you can cure my daughter, we will do anything!" said Charlotte quickly as though if she was not fast enough the opportunity would fly away.
"I did not cure her, Mrs. Greengrass. However, I can be the middle man and introduce you to the person who did. However, please know that he will have few conditions," lied Kenneth. Until he was absolutely certain that they would keep silent over his capabilities, he would not tell them that it was him who accidentally cured her.
"We will definitely agree with any condition," said Oscar.
"Even if that means that he will request to erase your memories of his and his method of curing? The only reason we were able to remember him was because he is a close friend of ours, but the method of curing was erased from our memories too," said Kenneth.
"This_," said Oscar, fiddling with memories was a dangerous thing to do. Especially if it was done by someone they did not know, who knows if they would only erase the memories that was promised. He thought for a while and looked at his wife and whispered into her ear, who nodded after he finished. He then said, "We can agree to this condition, but that person must swear an unbreakable oath to only erase the memories related to our meeting."
Kenneth smiled and said, "I'm sure he will agree to that, don't worry, you will still know that Astoria was cured. Why don't you write down your address for me? once I communicated with the person and he tell me if he has other conditions, I'll write a letter to you and we can proceed with the curing here at our shop?"
"That's sounds good," answered Oscar. He then gave Kenneth a piece of paper with his address.
"When that person cured Nagini, one of the things he asked was a vial of her blood, he had to experiment of the blood to see if the curse can be cured before he performed the magic on her, why don't I have a blood sample from Astoria to save the trouble for later?" asked Kenneth.
The two adults again had a small whispering session before agreeing to Kenneth. Kenneth conjured a medium size syringe and asked Astoria to sit down. The little girl nervously sat down and asked cutely, with tear in the corner of her eyes, "Uncle Jason, will it hurt?"
"You will only feel a small sting, Daphne, why don't you hold her hand, it will help you sister have courage to do it," said Kenneth.
Daphne who was also nervous, suddenly put on an incredible brave and confident expression and help her little sister's hand as though telling her that she will protect her. Kenneth chuckled and said, "Okay young lady, take a deep breath."
When Astoria took a deep breath while having her eyes closed, Kenneth injected the syringe in to her veins by using his soul eye and few seconds later, he placed the syringe in a small sealed box and casted a chilling charm on it and placed in in his spatial ring. "There all done," he said to the little girl, who finally opened her eyes. Then He said the two adults, "Please wait for good news."
