MARCUS POV
The office was brighter than other days but still aggravating. I kept functioning more than I would have because of my Manager, I was still going through the workload when one of my guards called from the house landline.
"Boss, we just rushed Miss Jane to the hospital," he said, making my tummy sink painfully. "I need the address of the hospital Asap," I said, dropping all that I was working on. I could feel the confusion in me because of how clumsy I was acting.
I strolled out of my office in rapid haste as I entered my car and drove quickly to the hospital. I knew all my workers had noticed the way I had reacted but I had to be there for Jane, I hope she doesn't lose her Baby.
"God, please keep Jane and her baby safe," I muttered under my breath. I carelessly drove into the busy road of Chicago, "why were there a lot of people today." I muttered silently before honking my car.
The road was finally clear as I drove to the hospital like a mad man, I couldn't just help the fact that she was at a hospital. What if something happened to her?
For some reason, I was mad that she had kept her pregnancy away from me. Even if I asked myself a thousand questions on her purpose of not telling me I still don't know the answer, she was making me even mad. What if she was hurt?
I just couldn't control myself as I kept sweating and panicking. I needed to employ someone feasible and good enough to take care of her, she was just too fragile.
The hospital was filled with patients in the waiting room and nurses gave their attention to them. I walked to the desk of the nurse in the reception area.
"I'm asking for Miss Jane?" I said with panic written all over my face. "I'm sorry sir only family members are allowed to see her," she said, pissing me off. "Family members, do you want to lose your fucking job?" I yelled at her, making her tremble.
I didn't care about the number of patients staring at me. They sure didn't know the time to ask stupid questions, she was about to say something when someone touched my shoulder making me twirl around.
"Doctor Kennedy," I said and he bobbed with a smile on his face. "Marcus, it has been a while since I last saw you in the club," he whispered only to my hearing. "Yeah, so many things and I guess that wasn't something important," I said hoping that he would get the hint that I wasn't in the mood for this right now.
"Uhm, can we talk in my office regarding The patient you have come to see, Jane, right?" he mumbled as he told the nurse to get back to work.
I strolled after him as we entered his office. There was a cushion at both sides and a center table which wasn't something much of a decoration, "coffee?" he inquired, I was going to say no but I didn't want him thinking like I was being rude to rescind.
"Do you know that the lady that was brought here was pregnant?" he said, sipping from his cup of coffee. "Not really, she didn't tell me to my face," I mumbled as I hastily sipped my cup of coffee as it burnt my lips.
“Many people go on to have a healthy baby at full term when they bleed. However, sometimes the bleeding becomes heavy, and miscarriage is likely to happen,” he let out making my eyes bulge out in fear.
“Doctor?” I called, searching his eyes for help.
“She didn't bleed much. In some cases where she wasn't rushed here immediately, she might have lost her baby and there wasn't going to be an emergency or cure that could save her baby,” he said, making me sip from the cup of coffee again.
“She would be fine. She just happens to have some infection which had caused such bleeding,” he said, making me solely soothed.
I entered the room where she was safeguarded by my trusted guard. I wasn't going to let anybody touch her, not when she was in this delicate situation. The other Mafia was angry that I had let her leave. They had sent me a letter letting me know of how much of a daddy's boy I was.
After I had seen her. I felt a little better but couldn't wait for them to discharge us immediately. I instantly walked up to her when her eyes freed slightly, she turned her head to look at me with the corner of her eyes as tears streamed down her face to the bed.
I hated the fact that she was in pain and tears. She was making me nervous because I couldn't do anything to help her. “how are you feeling?” I had managed to let out. She was going to say something but ended up spilling more liquid substance from her eyes.
After a few minutes at the hospital, they had discharged her. When we were in the car she was quiet which was unusual, “how are you doing now?” I asked and she only nodded with a faint smile.
“I don't want to ask but I just can't help it,” he said, turning to look at me. “Why didn't you tell me you were having Noah's baby?” I asked, looking at her through the rearview mirror.
She glanced at me and I turned to look at her. “I didn't know what to tell you, you would have killed me or made me abort the baby,” she said, breaking my heart.
I’m not the way you classify me as. I did those fucking things because my dad forced me to do that,” I said harsher than I expected.
I locked my door before putting my hands around her waist and bringing her close to a tight hug. “I’m not a bad person Jane, your baby with Noah is safe,” I mumbled.
“I hope you never hide anything that would cause your life because I wouldn't forgive myself,” I whispered calmly as I rocked her back gently.
