Just Because They Have Money, You Want Me To Get Married Into That Household?

Tang Xi's initial pomp and elation were at once cut down. "I have just turned 18, grandpa! Why do you want me to get married, and what's with this suddenness?" She continued her line of questioning.

Tang Min looked a little uneasy. Putting on a prim and proper behavior, he attempted to explain, "You won't get such good proposals all the time. When opportunity knocks on our doors, we should grab it. Lus are not only filthy rich, but they are royalty too. Lu's business has been ruling the country for a hundred years now. They have been dominating the sales chart for a very long time, Xixi."

Compared to the other more established families in B City, the Tang family was a newcomer to the scene. Even though, their business had been expanding rapidly over the years, it wasn't comparable to a giant like Lu Conglomerate

"Just because they have money, you want me to get married into that household?" Tang Xi asked straightforwardly and her tone seemed to have a touch of dissatisfaction.

When Tang Min sensed his granddaughter's gaze on him, he turned to look back at her.

"Not just money, they are great people, completely down-to-earth. I personally know the Old Lu. Telling you, he is the kindest person you can find on earth." The low voice of Tang Min spoke after sipping some herbal tea after the meal.

Tang Xi shook her head, as she frowned. She knew her grandfather was looking out for her. The marriage alliance came from good intentions, but she was beginning to grow annoyed at his persistence.

The thought that Tang Min wanted to send her to Lu, because he wanted to acquire some of Lu's vast assets through her didn't cross Tang Xi's mind. She knew how brutally honest her grandfather was.

After the death of his dear wife, Tang Min handed down the Tang Corporation to his only son, Tang Chen, and became a monk. He secluded himself from the world for eight long years, and nobody knew about his whereabouts in that period of time.

All of a sudden, one day he appeared in the new Tang mansion unannounced. However, what waited for him there wasn't his chosen daughter-in-law or his bubbly granddaughter.

That was the first and last time Tang Xi saw her grandfather that angry. Fortunately for Tang Chen, eighty percent of the Tang properties were transferred to his name before his father isolated himself, otherwise, he would have been disowned long ago. Nevertheless, the sour relationship between the father and son hadn't improved ever since then.

To Tang Xi, Tang Min wasn't only her grandfather, but also her saviour too. He helped her greatly by getting her out of that hell when she was ten, because of which she held great respect for this man and could never dare to be disrespectful.

"I am only eighteen, grandpa." Tang Xi tried to reason out for rejecting the offer.

Tang Min set his tea cup down, as a low chuckle left from his mouth. "While it's true that you are just eighteen, you are more mature than most of the women in their thirties out there."

"I don't want to get married, grandpa." Tang Xi's voice had gone very low, yet it was firm.

Tang Xi's parents' failed marriage caused indifference towards marriage in the mind. With years, it only deepened seeing her friends getting cheated on, and cheating on their boyfriends.

Tang Min's tone was formal and serious, as he said, "Don't say anything just yet. First meet him personally in a restaurant, and observe him or scrutinize him to your heart's content. Sleepover it for a week, then let me know your answer."

"It won't change a thing." Tang Xi said, not interested in the heavenly smell of the food anymore as her grandfather tried to convince her for marriage.

Tang Min repeated himself, slowly enunciating every word, "Meet him before making your decision."

"Alright, I will meet him, but it won't change my decision." Tang Xi walked out from the table with her eyebrows knitted together still.

"Brother Liang, why do you always buy the same food for you and Xixi, and different one for me?" Song Ah Lam asked, grinding her teeth, and putting both her hands on her waist.

She was referring to the two paper bags, in which one contained chicken burger, french fries, with cheese sauce, and other one beef pizza. Well, Gu Liang had always been discriminating against her. Whenever he bought something for them, he would always buy a matching one with Tang Xi and a dissimilar one for Song Ah Lam.

Tang Xi took a big bite from her burger while staring at the duo.

Gu Liang took the verbal hit like a champ, and smiling sheepishly, he said, "I thought you like to be uncommon and special." Stealthily he ran his eyes across Tang Xi and was relieved to see her carefree countenance.

Gu Liang was a tall, slender boy in his late teens. His facial features were rather delicate, with bangs covering his forehead. The most beautiful thing about Gu Liang was his smile, which seemed to be caressed by the spring wind, very gentle and kind.

Song Ah Lam nodded and chipped in, "Well, that's very considerate of you, I appreciate that."

Gu Liang gave a tight-lipped smile to Song Ah Lam, before taking out his cellphone from his pocket which had been vibrating.

"Hello,"

"....."

"The guest lecturer from Stanford?"

"....."

"Okay, bye."

"What's up?" Tang Xi could tell that Gu Liang had something to say just by looking at his expression.

Gu Liang was full of frustration, as he said little angrily, "Called back to the college, a lecture has been preponed suddenly."

Song Ah Lam who sat beside him sighed pointedly, "I can commiserate with you."

"Actually you don't have to. I don't feel like going," Gu Liang said, shoving a fry into his mouth.

"You shouldn't miss such important lectures, brother Liang. A guest lecturer from Stanford, you can learn a lot from him. We can hang out tomorrow as well." Tang Xi opined.
