Chapter 2 Among the Gods

Gods and Goddesses looked at there king in shock unable to convey the changing emotions on there face even Zeus the most powerful god could not truly kill a god. It goes against the laws the world instilled on them from there birth, and one of them is a god cannot kill a fellow god. For example when he wanted to overthrow his father Kronos and his followers he couldn't kill them when he succeed his father as the king of the gods so instead he and his siblings opened the gate of Tartarus by combining there divinities and sealing them to suffer a endless torture for all eternity. They all stood in silence looking amongst themselves and there fellow gods and the first to speak up was the goddess of justice Asteria.

"Zeus what is the meaning of this!" she said in a angry tone.

"I only did what needed to be done" he said in a calm tone. As he looked over his fellow gods even he was a little annoyed on how this bitch would even curse him in death. "Nemesis was growing stronger thus planning to harm the stability seeking the destruction of my rule and threatening to bring wraith upon the gods she got what was she deserved." he said as he stood firm on his choice and would not back down and as he finished Hera, Hades, and Poseidon joined the mix.

"What are saying she-" Asteria said in a fury but was interrupted.

"How so Zeus?" Demeter said in a questioning voice.

"She wanted the right to solely judge us for miscue things" Poseidon said in a arrogant way while raising his chin.

"The power to to judge our dominions" Hades chimed in.

"To take away the positions bestowed upon us" Hera said scoffing and looking away.

Now the gods and goddess didn't know whether or not to truly believe this statement. On one side if what they said was true they might be justified given the significance of the crime however if that wasn't case and they saw Nemesis as a threat to there power what does that to mean to any of them. Does that mean the same could happen to them and if so would there fate be as cruel as Nemesis and as they were thinking some started murmuring to themselves contemplating this situation, some panicking, some angry, some interested in the developments, and some not really caring but all stopped when they heard a familiar voice.

"SILIENCE!" Ouranos said with a booming tone. "Useless bickering amongst yourselves will not further the development of this situation" he said in calm tone. Everyone watched as one of the oldest and most respected gods Ouranos joined the scene and all turned there attention towards him not daring to show disrespect to this ancient god. As the peoples attention started to focus in more Zeus spoke not daring to miss this chance.

"Ouranos is right these useless arguments mean nothing all I did was one of my kingly duties and punished a criminal for disrupting the balance of the gods and goddesses which in turn would lead to strife and chaos." Zeus spoke conveying his words in a courageous way. Ouranos was about to speak but Zeus spoke before he could chime in "And further more I did not kill Nemesis she in fact killed herself probably feeling the guilt of her crimes weighing on her shoulders no longer able to bear her sins finally giving in and decided to make amends by taking her life." Zeus said in a depressed voice. Some gods and goddess started to calm down by hearing there kings explanation knowing that not just anyone can be subject to this cruel fate however one was watching this performance with a smirk on his face and decided to join in on the fun.

"Ah how unfortunate for her to bear all these sins all by her lonesome." Hermes said while exaggerating his hands in a fluent way. Zeus eyebrows twitched upon hearing his acquaintance knowing that he would need more than just acting.

"Indeed however in the end none can dispute that Nemesis was the one to take her own life in the end and you should know how precious a life is first hand is Hermes no matter how bad her sentence ways she decided to choose this horrible fate on her own accord." Zeus said crossing his arms showing how he would not back down. Hermes looked at the situation of the death of this god not with fear and anxiety but with great interest for Zeus to be involved this was no small issue; especially if he went behind the council of the gods however just because he wanted to sweep this problem under the rug doesn't mean that Hermes wont at least enjoy him self a little.

"Yes your are correct in that matter. My life is worth more to me than any treasure I could ever imagine which makes this situation even more dire if it was enough to warrant Nemesis to take her own life to appease herself and her king." said covering his face so his smile would not escape this Oscar worthy performance. " And further more what wraith did she want to ensue upon us gods and goddess enough for our king to sentence Nemesis to this fate?" Hermes says in a questioning tone with a slight bow. Now the gods and goddesses were silent not daring to speak hearing Hermes take waiting on his ever word spoken.

"As you know gods and goddess all have there own roles that play into there own respected divinities" Zeus proclaimed. "Nemesis role was to judge human beings that would commit hubris(arrogance) among the gods but day after day, year after year, century after century Nemesis grew arrogant the very thing she was supposed to judge" Zeus said as enticing tone. "What more could Nemesis judge if humans weren't enough to satisfy her arrogance, what more would she seek to accuse, if humans weren't enough than were would she turn to to satisfy her need to punish, her greed for retribution, and her longing for power." Zeus said as if painting a picture for all gods and goddess alike and as he was about to finish this very construct of words he suddenly stopped leaving the very essence of the painting he tried so very hard to convey blank leaving the very spot that would tie it all together up to the audience.

"Gods!" Koalemos the god of stupidity said as if he found the missing piece of Zeus's statement as if he was a genius.

"Yes Nemesis wanted the right to judge the gods and ignore all the rules we as a society set." Zeus said nodding his head as if he needed help implying he couldn't finish what he started. "She wanted to bring everything we built for ourselves, our very order, and prosperity we worked so hard to achieve and replace it with her own selfish desire." Zeus said as he was implying it wasn't just him who would suffer but everyone. All gods and goddesses looked at Zeus knowing that if what he said was true the ends would justify there means. However Hermes wasn't going to let this play come to a end just quite yet because Hermes might be known as the messenger of the gods but only a few gods even know of Hermes true nature as one of the cleverest and most mischievous of the Olympian gods, and he would prolong this situation as long as possible until he experienced every last drop of fun that Zeus could provide.

"Hmmmm your words have merit your grace however if Nemesis truly wanted to go against the gods why didn't you tell anyone of this situation. As you have stated if this matter was as important as you the king of the gods implied why wouldn't you tell your loyal subjects about this grave matter." Hermes said in a questioning tone and as Zeus was about to answer Hermes continued. "Your could it be" he stopped as if wanting all eyes and ears on him. "You don't trust us your loyal subjects that you rule with this knowledge? Do you think us so low to turn against you, against everything we have built, against our prosperity, against our very order, and do you think of us so lowly enough to turn against you after everything you have given us." Hermes said as if he was offended by Zeus's mere presence. The gods and goddess looked at Hermes with curiosity, some agreed with his statement and wanted to hear Zeus's rebuke, and some of the more arrogant gods were greatly offended by Zeus thinking so lowly of them. Zeus looked at Hermes knowing exactly what he was doing and answered.

"I do not see you as so lowly enough to do such heinous things that's why I went out of my way to make sure none was met with any unjust action committed by Nemesis." Zeus said in a Sincere tone as he looked at everyone present. "As your king it is my responsibility to rule and with that responsibility bestowed upon me by all of you I do my duty as king and rule as fairly as possible" Zeus said trying to sympathize with the masses. "That is why I didn't banish her into Tartarus I was just going to punish her so she could serve out her sentence of her crime because I didn't see it as necessary to banish her to the same fate as my father." Zeus said knowing full well his 3 other siblings would never agree to open the gate of Tartarus for Nemesis who just wanted revenge for the humans because the gods toyed with them as they willed. "That is why I wanted to punish her for awhile but the longer she stayed in here the more violent she became." Zeus said as if he wanted to bring this to a close. "However she became more insane and tried to attack us so I used the divine chains to bind her which even I thought was a bit excessive." Zeus said as if the chains existence was heresy. "But it wasn't enough she couldn't wait even a single second of her miniscule punishment and attacked us again so with great regret I used life draining spikes to keep her at bay so she could serve out her sentence and think upon her actions.......however I never intended her to think of doing something so extreme as this." Zeus said looking at the spot Nemesis would be in chains as recalling a event that saddened him deeply. Hermes seeing that the ending was near decided to not drag this on any further as it would just ruin the act he had constructed.

"Your Grace I never knew it was like this I apologize for my imprudence I hope you can forgive this lowly messenger." Hermes said while bowing showing sincere regret on his face. The gods who were thinking of Zeus as tyrannical and oppressively now just did a total 180 as if they couldn't believe they thought that Zeus the king of the gods the most powerful of them all would go out of his way to do such a heinous thing just for a small crime. They started to believe his words more and more even convincing themselves that Nemesis was a traitor that sought to bring there downfalls. Some gods and goddesses looked at the chains with disgust thinking how she deserved more punishment and she took the easy way out. Zeus looked at this moment and to real everyone in by putting on the finishing touches.

"It saddens me dearly if I was a better king I would have seen this sooner and I could of helped her and now I'll have to live with this failure as a ruler for the rest of my existence." Zeus said looking dejected as his very being. Hera saw this and was actually convinced and worried for Zeus.

"Dear its okay you gave so many chances but it wasn't enough and in the end she couldn't take it." Hera said hugging Zeus into her embrace. "Don't try to bear this sin because this sin is not yours to bear but hers." Hera said trying to comfort Zeus. Everyone looked at this moment and started truly believing in there king even the gods that were the most skeptical at the start.

"Ok everyone this matter will be settled further later so for now lets get out of this dark depressing dungeon as the council will deal with this further" Ouranos spoke conveying his words to everyone. They all agreed as being down her would no longer serve any purpose and started to leaving one by one. As Hermes was about to leave he looked back at Zeus and winked at him and then procced to leave the dungeon.

Late at night in the throne room of Zeus

"Come out" Zeus said in a knowing voice.

"Guess you noticed me huh Zeus?" Hermes said in a playful tone with a knowing smirk.

"Tch of course, I would know if a god or goddesses was in my presence" he said in a arrogant way.

"Of course you would know if this lowly subject was in his kings presence." Hermes said with a courteous bow.

"Cut the act Hermes what was your purpose of dragging out and provoking the situation early." Zeus said squinting his eyes with a little underlying hostility.

"Zeus you don't truly believe everyone will just listen to your excuse and agree. First were not idiots.....well not as idiotic as Koalemos." Hermes said in a sarcastic tone and and as he did Zeus listened but never the less gestured for him to continue. "They need the underlying facts if you were just to imprison gods and goddess left and right just because they looked like a threat you would be no different from your father." Hermes said and as his words dropped Zeus's voice resounded throughout the hall.

"I AM NOTHING LIKE MY FATHER." Zeus said with rage as his aura spread out.

"Woah there big guy I never said you were I just said people might think" Hermes said with his arms raised in a innocent tone. "I'm just saying that people need to know your not like that, they need to know how you really feel for your people, not just look at the issue firsthand but the bigger picture, and they did which is why I did it so none would confuse your actions as tyrannical god but god that would do anything for his people." Hermes said leaving out the part were he was totally enjoying himself through that whole rollercoaster of emotions. Zeus not totally buying what Hermes was saying but not totally rejecting it either replied.

"So what's in it for you what do really want I know you didn't just go out of your way just for me you would never do something like that unless there wasn't something to gain." Zeus said knowing that the price of his performance was not free and he would have to pay up.

"Ah Zeus you know me so well." Hermes said with a genuine smile. "I would be grateful for receiving a gift from the king of the gods I'm sure you hold my precious items that can live up to the name of there owner." Hermes said with smile like he knew whatever he received from Zeus must be extraordinary in its own right and upon hearing his request Zeus was in deep contemplation. Hermes was right being the king has its benefits and since Hermes was asking Zeus what he wanted Zeus didn't have to worry about giving something dangerous to a conniving person like Hermes. So he started taking into account his role and finally came to the conclusion of what to give Hermes.

"Very well take this" and as Zeus said that he waved his hand and an item appeared. Zeus threw it to Hermes and in doing so he gracefully caught it but then his eyebrows raised.

"What's this?" Hermes said.

"Its a hat called Petasos it make it so you are protected by any kind of weather." Zeus said and as Hermes was about to thank him Zeus spoke first. "Your really are someone that likes to enjoy himself." Zeus said raising and eyebrow.

"Well of course Zeus it gets so boring here and when something does happen I cant but help enjoying myself and getting a few trinkets here and there doesn't hurt either." Hermes said in a playful tone looked at the hat and was quite please. "Very well if that is all you have for me Zeus I shall take my leave." Hermes bowed once more turned around and left Zeus sitting on his throne and while leaving a wicked grin can be seen plastered on the face. 'Oh Zeus just being around you always brings in unexpected treasures and entertainment.' Hermes thinks to himself as he puts on his net acquired hat and strolls out of the throne room.

As time passed more and more people stopped gossiping over the death of a god, and then just really stopped caring as if it stopped being entertaining to even speak about it. Slowly but surely Gods and Goddess started to go back into there routine until one day a god proposed living among the humans as a joke after drinking too much wine. At first they just laughed it off but the more and more gods and goddess started to think about it the more intrigued they became with the idea. It became so wide spread amongst themselves it reached the ears of the council.

Council Room:

The Council is made up of 12 people and is the governing body of Olympus(didn't make this up its a real thing in mythology) it is comprised of Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, Demeter, Athena, Apollo, Artemis, Ares, Hephaestus, Aphrodite, Hermes, and Dionysus and Zeus is the head council and the only way to supersede any edict by Zeus is by everyone on the council rejecting his proposals. The Council decided to convene to talk about this idea because they also thought of it as intriguing and Ares was the first to speak.

"Well the idea is intriguing however its impossible, gods get pushed out of the mortal realm because of our divinity, and if we were to descend it disrupt the balance of the world." Ares commented seeing the idea as something impossible. Some of the council hearing this gave up the idea of ever living amongst the mortals.

"Well there might be a way around that Ares." Athena said and as she did everyone became interested again. "I have been experimenting and I discovered we could seal our divinity which in turn would make it possible to live amongst the mortals." As Athena said that Poseidon voiced his opinion.

"Why would anyone seal away there godhood to live amongst insects." Poseidon said in a arrogant way clearing thinking the idea is dumb and not worth giving up his power in return to live amongst creatures he finds inferior.

"Ah Poseidon you don't know the true beauty of humans they are so fascinating, there customs exciting, and the things they invent are truly beautiful." Apollo said in a passionate tone. Demeter looked more and more interested in the idea and chimed in.

"If we seal our divinities wouldn't we be in a state of weakness were we would be essentially mortal?" Demeter said and after they hear this they also looked to Athena for her answer.

"Yes you would." Athena said nodding her head.

"Doesn't that mean we could die." Demeter asked as he was becoming more and more interested with the idea with living with mortals.

"Yes and No." Athena said. "Internally we are still immortal meaning we would not age its just externally is different since we cant use our divinity we still could be attacked or injured." Athena said in a complicated way knowing that they would be at the same level as the ones who worshipped them which for some gods being compared to a lesser being is the same as a great insult but Athena continued "However I made the seal so that essentially if we are mortally wounded our divinity would release and guided us back to the heavens however once we die in the mortal world we cannot seal our divinities again because in a sense the world will see us as dead and we will not be allowed to descend again." Athena said and as they did many gods were shocked because this is truly remarkable especially sense boredom is a big problem among the gods and goddesses. They were all in deep contemplation about this matter nd then Zeus spoke.

"This is really interesting but we should send someone to test the waters to see if there are any repercussions before we announce this." he said scratching his beard.

"I have already found someone who is willing to descend to the lower world." Athena said nodding her head and as she did Ouranos walked into the throne room.

"Pardon my intrusion." Ouranos said as he bowed courteously.

"Its fine Ouranos are you sure you want to descend first this could be very dangerous." Zeus said in a respectful tone.

"Yes your grace I will descend first and act as a kind of overseer over the gods that choose to descend and make sure to keep the balance as much as possible if you so choose it." Ouranos said still bowing. Zeus thought for a while on one side he didn't want someone to have power over him but on the other being the overseer sounds really boring and if he truly descended he wanted to enjoy himself as much as possible instead of being the baby sitter and not matter what his power of king will not change as Ouranos is very loyal and responsible and he decided.

"Does anyone disagree and if so voice now." he said as he looked over the council and none objected the idea and then he continued. "Very well Athena make the preparations to send Ouranos to the mortal world as for that let dismiss the meeting." Zeus said and as he did everyone dispersed and Athena took Ouranos away to make preparations for his descent.

A random plain near a village.

A pillar of golden light can be seen from all around. The village folk were captivated by the beauty of the light and headed over to it to satisfy there curiosity. In the pillar of light a object can be seen descending down in the light there is a figure of a man that's slowly descending onto the ground and as his feet touch the ground the world rumbles and all of a sudden the world reacted and sprout something to counteract this imbalance that many would call the dungeon. To counter this dungeon Ouranos decided to help out some of the local villagers against the monsters by blessing them with his divinity and the villagers were amazed at this and called the power falna. Ouranos really like these mortals that he blessed and considered them as part of his family which was later coined Familia. When gods heard about what transpired on the mortal world they were slack jawed about this train of events even gods from other pantheons also found out and were also intrigued and many wanted to descend as well to fulfil there desire for entertainment and a way to relieve there boredom thus a new era was born the era of adventurers.

1000 years later in a random alley in Orario

"Hey kid hand over everything you got." the thug said as he was making the gimme gesture with his hand.

"Um I don't have any valis on me." the kid spoke he looked to be around 12 or 13 years old.

"Do you think I'm stupid hand over everything you got." the thug said as he pushed the kid and as he did the kid tripped and fell and hit his head on a rock. Blood started gushing out of his head.

"Oh shit what a fucking idiot" the thug started laughing and walked over to the kid patting him down to see if he had anything on him. "Tch useless only 15 valis fucking trash." the thug said and as he did he kicked the lifeless body and walked out of the ally.

Hours passed in the alley as all that could be seen was just a lifeless body of a kid lying on the ground with blood leaking out of his head and then all of a sudden his body started glowing and then after a couple of seconds it stopped. The seemly dead body's skin started to add some color to its already pale skin and then his eyes shot open then not thinking about where he was started looking at his body and he was bewildered at what he saw as the only thing he could was mutter to himself.

"What the fuck?" he says with a confused expression.
