Vindictus headed to the temple first. The sister looked up as soon as he walked in. "I felt the curse over that area lift. Thank you for helping me deal with my son. He used to be such a good boy. But then a darkness crept into his heart. Here are a few family recipes that I hope that you can find a use for." [Gained +500 reputation with the church of light.]
Vindictus was amazed about the 500 reputation with the church. This was way harder to earn than reputation with the region or even the world. They were two completely different things. Neither them had any influence on the other. As far as the church was concerned if you had a million reputation with the world it would not affect your standing at all. Then he looked at the potion recipes and his eyes got as big as his face. They were recipes that would be worth a fortune in the future, not only that but it would take a long time before the rest of the world would be able to do this. There were not a lot of people that had the resources to get better and better at any of the lifestyle classes but with his arrangement with the others he would be able to get a lot of the stuff he needed very early.
The recipes were for a Berserker potion, other games tended to call it a rage potion. This would give a huge boost to warriors in battle. There were also two defensive potions. One that boosted fire resistance and one that boosted cold resistance. They were overkill now but the two level twenty dungeons were fire and ice based to they would be a huge necessity in the future. And the kicker was the only places that he knew to get the potion was to be dropped by one of the bosses in the normal level of the dungeon. Hundreds of players would have to sacrifice themselves to get this recipe. But if he could get them made and on hold for the auction, he could make a fortune and also level up his alchemy to a level that no one else could touch.
"Thank you, sister. I am glad that I could help both you and the church." He gave her a bow of his head and headed back out into the village. He wanted to finish up the tannery quest and then he would go and talk with the mayor about taking the quest that he was holding for him. The tannery was on the other side of the village but it still did not take him long to get there. A few players watched him walk by and were amazed at how fast he seemed to be moving.
When he got there, he did not even stop at the front, he simply walked to the back with a big smile on his face. "Good morning, Master Tanner. I brought the water that you asked for and I also brought a pouch of the crystals that were gathered on the side of the pond as well."
"Well done young man. Thank you very much. You have gone above and beyond what I asked of you. As a reward let me teach you a few things and I also have a couple beginner armor formula that you might find a use for."
The man handed Vindictus two different formula and he put them away without even looking at them. He did not want to be rude. "Thank you very much for the privilege of your knowledge master tanner."
"Of course." The man then went into a short explanation on how to use the water and the way to not only use the crystals but also to get more crystals out of the water. It seemed like a long time but within half an hour the lesson was complete.
[Leatherworking – Level 6]
The lesson gave him two full levels of leatherworking. Once it hit level ten it would take him a long time and a new teacher or the right formula to get it beyond that. But now that all of the free lessons were gone, he was going to have to do everything the hard way from now on and get experience from making the items over and over again. But if that was what it would take that is what he would do. "Thank you master tanner. I will be sure to put the knowledge that you have provided to great use in the near future."
Vindictus left the tanner and headed to the general store that was not far from the center of the city and the mayor's office where he needed to go next. There was an old man sitting behind the counter with a small line of people buying and selling things, more selling than buying since they did not have much money. Vindictus found the bottle that he was looking for and picked up two of them and got in line. The old man was ecstatic when he saw Vindictus in line with something to buy.
"Good morning, young man. Is there anything else you would like besides the liquor?"
"Actually, I was hoping that you could help me out with a few items that I am looking for. You could buy them here and I will not only pay for the items but also pay you a fee per item."
"What items would you be looking for?"
Vindictus gave the man a list with the prices that he was willing to pay on it. "I would like as much of these items as you can get me. You could even post the price on the local board and I would be fine with that."
"Just these items sir? Are you sure this is all that you are after?"
"At this time. I am capably of using these items but in the future, I will need more and better things and of course I will be paying more for them. But this is all I can use right not. I will also pay you two copper per item for holding them for me."
"I will buy all that I can and also post the board. The liquor is a gold a piece and then whatever deposit you would like to leave for the items."
Vindictus handed the man five gold coins. "Thank you very much for your assistance."
"I will send you regular updates when the funds get low or my stock starts getting full."
"That will be fine sir thank you very much." As Vindictus walked out he was that three of the players in the shop were openly staring at him with looks of greed all over their faces. He had a feeling that he was going to have trouble with them very soon. Probably right after he left the village to take on the next quest. He would just have to keep an eye on them.
Vindictus put the bottles in his inventory and headed straight to see the mayor. As he got close, he realized that it was far enough into the game that the mayor had moved back into his office and left the town steward the take care of assigning the missions and paying the reward for the animals that were killed. He knew that he would have to go straight to the mayor to see about the quest. A few of the players that were waiting in like to talk to the steward were giggling as they saw Vindictus walk straight towards the building. A few players had tried this earlier and were thrown out on their ears and one got up to protest and was immediately thrown into the village jail.
Vindictus walked up and not only did the guards not move to stop him he walked in like he was expected. The guards all went to attention for him and even the steward stood up and gave him a bow. "The mayor has been expecting you sir. Please head right on in and the ladies in the front will make sure that you are taken right back to see him. Please let me know if there is anything that you need."
"Thank you, sir. I appreciate your hospitality." Vindictus walked in and the girl at the desk quickly jumped up and led him to the mayor's office.
"Sir, the gentleman that you have been waiting on his here."
"Oh, send him right in." The woman motioned Vindictus in and he gave her a bow of his head as thanks. "I see that you have come far in the last day. I think that you are now strong enough that you can help my friend."
"I would be honored mayor. How can I assist you?"
"So polite. To the East of town, I have a friend who is a ranger and he was keeping the bears in that area under control. A few months ago, a new bear came into the area and caused him a pretty serious injury. He sent me a message two days ago that he thinks something is going on and requested some help. With this huge influx of people, I do not have enough guards to help him. Do you think you could go and assist Fox with the bear problem?"
"I will head out right away Mayor. You can count on me."
"Outstanding. If you walk straight East you will see a fork in the road. Instead of taking either fork turn directly south and you will find him after a short. Keep your eyes open because he does have a few traps set up all the time."
"Thank you for the warning mayor. I will take care of this matter."
