Rukelion was surprised by his wife's line of thinking. Children almost always carried on the family business. Although…he didn't know how things worked in her world. She had mentioned her former profession before and wasn't sure if it was a trade she had learned from a relative or not.

Come to think of it, that was unlikely considering her relationships with her relatives. Didn't she say something about choosing what she wanted to do with her life before? What a novel concept!

"That isn't how people think here," he told her seriously. "Farmer's sons grow up to be farmers. Blacksmith's sons grow up to be blacksmiths. King's sons grow up to be kings or other court officials supporting them."

Daisy sighed. "I know but…you didn't want this, did you? You're only doing it because you feel like you had to."
