"I have a little surprise for you Chief," said Skeg. "We have not only become fluent with the blade when it comes to assassinations we are good with traps and great with poison. Sir Othes should be happy with our set up and I can send someone to show him. Also, I must ask that you can help us acquire more weapons and gear as we cannot craft any ourselves and it's difficult to procure using other methods. Our current equipment is at the end of its life."
Kane and Kellog walked with Skeg through the cave. They were working out the details of the Deus Belli Empires' recent expansion. Kane was thoroughly pleased with the results but did not dare celebrate as he had more and more things to prepare for.
After finishing up certain details Kane left the rest to Kellog and Othes. He wanted to take the time to plan his next few steps.
"BOT! Learn Dagger Fade battle art," said Kane.
Kane had found a beaten notebook in one of Silverstrokes pockets. Kane was ecstatic to see that it was the old man's battle art. This could help improve his strength immensely especially when used with his other agility/assassination-based battle art. Silvers art gave him the ability to transfer his dagger from one hand to the other almost instantly. Also gave him a speed boost and improved his reaction speed.
[Sir may I recommend something?]
"Go ahead BOT."
[The system can fuse two compatible battle arts to make a strong, unique, and improved battle art. Would you like to fuse Flight of the Hummingbird and Daggerfade?].
Kane thought for a moment. This skill seemed great as it meant he only needed to activate one battle art in battle instead of two. He would however lose the original two arts.
"Well, I think Othes would like this new art. Go ahead and fuse."
[Fuseing in progress]
Kane felt the books disappear and his mind also starts to cloud up.
[Congratulations Kane Hoth you have discovered the new B-ranked battle art: Hummingbirds Final Flight! With this art, you are now able to phase anywhere within a 20-foot radius. Phase = teleportation but happens instantly. Your speed, agility, reaction time, skill with daggers, and perception will also be increased. Your weapons may also phase from one hand to another. Within the 20-foot radius, some foes with weak mental strength may also experience increased dread and fear in their minds. Be careful Host as this battle art is powerful but your current battle mastery is that of one between a D-rank and C-rank Battle Master. Your battle energy will decrease rapidly when this is used.]
Kane was in shock and awe. He could not figure out what to focus on first. The incredible skill he just learned or the beautiful tome now in his hand. It was an emerald green book with a hummingbird with the iridescent colors of the rainbow. Before he could celebrate either fact a notification sounded.
[Congratulations on completing the hidden quest: Fusion confusion. Reward: 20,000 shop points, 2 instant learn scrolls (Battle Arts), and 20 C-rank Orc Hunter summons.]
"This day keeps getting better," said Kane to himself.
[Just remember your battle master are not the highest level so you may want to save the instant learn scrolls for when they are either higher level or you find someone else. Plus not every battle art is compatible with every battle master. If you would like some advice I would let Othes use the Hummingbirds Final Flight Tome to learn the art. It may take a while for him to learn but in the process of learning his battle energy will improve and he will become a higher-tier battle master.]
"That's good" responded Kane. "I will give it to him to learn then. These scrolls are great and so is this new art. I am excited for when we get stronger. By the way, do the scrolls teach any of the battle arts I know? Or something else?"
[If you have the battle art manual like your Final Flight tome then you are able to use the scroll to teach the art.]
"Ok thank you! Also please summon those orc hunters. We are currently weekend and I don't think the reinforcement will be coming anytime soon. Plus it would be good to have extra guards to take the first group of ratfolk to the kingdom."
[Summoning now]
The orcs appeared in front of Kane and he gave them a few orders and then went to give the tome to Othes. After that, he decided to go over to Galter and discuss a few things. They had sent a messenger to the Iron Rose kingdom to tell about current events as well as ask for aid. Kane was hoping there would be news.
"Nothing yet My Lord," said Galter.
"It's alright, hopefully soon though. Now that we have the ratfolk on our side should we head back to the kingdom? Or to the White Sparrow kingdom? Or something else? It seems we have a dangerous future ahead and I am open to suggestions on what the best move to deal with it is."
"My Lord we must increase our overall strength. Whether it's numbers or stronger individuals we are lacking compared to every other kingdom."
"Hmm, it seems that we may be in a bit of trouble. The Sparrow kingdom may be useful but we must find other ways as well."
"Indeed My Lord I suggest talking to Kellog and seeing if he knows of anything else that may help. We may also want to gather a group to infiltrate the Kingdom of Kokar. We should know more about our new enemies."
"Splendid idea Galter. I will talk to him and then we can discuss more about visiting those Kokarians."
