Chapter 110

Kane was in awe. The carriage driver had just told him they arrived at the front of the city. He had decided to take a look at this other kingdom's capital. The kingdom was large in size and the building went high into the sky. What really amazed Kane was the beauty of the entire place. In contrast to the Kingdom of Kokar's central city the White Sparrow Kingdom's central city was a bright white color with many people happily living and working on the streets. There was also much vegetation in the shape of fluorescent pink, white, and green trees. There were soldiers all over the place but the city did not seem as if they were only thinking of war. Kids played, dogs chased their tails, and folks pondered which pastries to buy.

"Seems like our friends have a bit of wealth," said Galter.

"I see no war here," said Akak.

"Well, maybe they just treat their people and land better. Either way, we must..."

Kane could not finish before the crusader captain rode his horse to the side of the carriage.

"Sir the guards have been put on the defensive due to our force. I told them we were invited but as you can see we have drawn quite a crowd."

Kane saw what the captain was talking about. All the citizens, travelers, traders, and people had turned to look at them. Many looked afraid and all the guards had started to encircle Kanes group. Kane had a feeling that this may happen but hoped that General Bushivo had told them to expect Kane. Kane decided to give the order for his troops to put any weapons away and waited for a few of the guards to walk over to him.

"We are sorry for the inconvenience but we had to check what your man said. We do not know the emblem of your kingdom yet so we were put on guard due to your armed men. After checking we now know that you are guests of his majesty. If you please we have a place for all your men to rest. Also, we have been asked to bring you to his majesty."

Kane nodded at the guard.

"Captain take these men and get them settled. Akak and Galter come with me."

"Yes sir!" said the captain with a salute.

"Well, time to meet a king. I was hoping to eat something first," said Galter.

"We will have plenty of time to explore the local cuisine," responded Kane getting out of the carriage. It seemed funny send they were immediately brought to another. This one had far bigger windows which made for an exciting journey up the city's winding roads. The people looked intrigued, and nervous, and fought to have a look at Kane and his men. The guiding guard explained that they were not used to delegates from other kingdoms especially ones with such a showy entrance. Kane did seem to rethink bringing the cavalry as they were a little showy and definitely a ferocious force for a diplomatic mission. Then again they were ceremonial with their garbs and stoic look as well as great protection during wartime.

"Sir Kane we've arrived," said the guard.

Kane opened the door and stepped down from the carriage. They had stopped close to the top of the city and in front of a large building that looked like part villa, part castle, and part temple. White as the other building with gold trimming. Knights stood at attention and Kane sensed incredible strength all around the area. If he were an enemy he would have had to flee.

"Sir Kane it is good to see you!"

Kane saw the kind, wise, and stalwart General Bushivo walking up to him followed by several other knights.

Kane wore silver plate armor with crimson trim and although his helmet was different than his average Crusaders he was slightly surprised that he was recognized. The surprise didn't last long as Kane remembered that battle power was unique to individuals and if you knew another battle master, they may recognize you by sensing your energy. This also made Kane tell himself to learn how to hide his battle power at a later date. From what he learned many battle masters do it enough to decrease the power that is felt. Some hide it to not give off that they are battle masters. Also, some increase to make everyone, even non-battle masters feel their presence.

"General Bushivo the feeling is mutual. How goes the war?"

"I fear that it has a long way to go. I worried after I got the news about your own city. Oki had sent a messenger and told me about your encounter and the grave news of an invasion. I am sorry I was unable to send troops. I could not spare any nor would I have gotten permission. I hope today will change that and soon we can work together to win this war."

"I thank you for your concern and I understand the situation. An official alliance would do us all good. The Iron Rose is safe and the Kokarian forces are decimated. I also have good news. That battle master that we fought at the village is no more. Her fire has dimmed shall we say?"

"That is excellent news. You have been a part of many of their twelve's last battles. It seems as if you are the key to their defeat."

"I am not sure about that. But it is good that so many have been defeated early on. The fewer battle masters they have the better. By the way, I have met Sir Galter before but who is the other man?"

"This is Sir Akak a trusted friend and a worthy fighter."

"It is a pleasure to meet you Sir Akak. Welcome to the White Sparrow Kingdom."

"Thank you General Bushivo," responded Akak.

"Well, Sir Kane it's time to meet my king. I must warn you several other generals, advisors, and important figures are in the throne room with him. Many are not your friend nor do they want to be. You must tread carefully and choose your words with care. I fear it may be difficult to get the alliance that we want even with everything you have done for us."

"So is the way of politics," responded Kane with an inward sigh.

"I have faith though. I also will give you my full support. I also know the king is grateful for saving his daughter. We just need to navigate those against and we should leave with friendship and a bright future for both our kingdoms."

"Let us go then, General.

Kane and his men followed the general toward the throne room. Kane calmed himself before they got there. He would rather fight than talk but as a leader, this is something he will have to get used to. This would be the first of many important meetings with other nation's leaders and to ensure a future where those meetings were possible this one would have to go well.
