Chapter 113

"I am impressed, your highness. I was not expecting results to happen so soon. Personally, I am glad things came together so quickly. Others in that room may not have wanted us to work together but I think we stand a better chance at victory when we are together."

General Fukuyo chatted with King Kane in a carriage surrounded by a mix of Iron Rose and White Sparrow Kingdom cavalry. He may have been the youngest general and not a battle master but he was well respected and had a sizeable force fighting under him. He was glad to be chosen to aid the city of Sagaa and get to know this mysterious king.

"Neither was I but I am happy they did. It is better for all of us to work together especially now with the Kokarian forces gaining more ground. Your king is a smart and respectable man and I hope the relationship between our kingdoms is long and fruitful," responded Kane.

"Well, Your Grace I am most grateful for the chance to fight by your side. I am also grateful that my liege has given me a chance to secure Sagaa and that you chose our first battle as allies there. The city of Sagaa as well as all the villages on the frontline are being taken and we are losing this war so far. In fact, many of the units we have sent to fight them on their side have been decimated. I even heard that after you met with him, Sir Oki was killed with the rest of his force."

Kane was shocked at this news. The General was not only friendly towards Kane but seemed like a great warrior. He would not have expected the man to be killed so soon and part of him even felt sadness for the loss.

"I am sorry Sir Fukuyo. He was a fine warrior and for the little time I was with him I held respect for the man."

"It is a shame. The war seemed to be going well for the first couple of battles but the Kokarian forces seemed to have gotten some strong motivation. We are now losing much to their flurry of attacks. Thankfully my liege has given us the chance to help Sagaa. I've heard that their main wall has been breached and the exterior of the city is in ruins. The only good thing is that all non-combatants were evacuated before the Kokarian force arrived. Now our surviving force desperately fight to survive. Soon the city may be taken and the Kingdom of Kokar will have an opening into our territory. We will officially be on the defensive and we may not have any chance at victory."

"Things look bleak now General but war is never set. Victories and losses happen and although important never forget that there is still a chance to conquer and win. I have sent word for a group of my men to meet with us outside the city so we could head straight there. Then together we will take it back or die trying."

"Thank you, your highness. If Sagaa falls then we are not only out of an important defensive position but I am out of a home."

Kane understood. The General had more then one reason for fighting this coming battle.

"Do you have family General?"

"Yes, which is why I have begged the king to let me go. It was only until our alliance that he allowed it. I get that we are spreading our troops thin and that we had already sent a force to Sagaa but I was still very upset. I couldn't do anything. My only relief is that word arrived that the people were safe in the catacombs of the city. As long as the keep is standing and protected then there is a chance for me to see them again."

"Well, then we shall double our speed. General I understand the importance to you and your kingdom this city holds. Do not let emotion get you killed and work together with my men and me. This battle will be tough and we won't have as many men nor will we have any sort of advantage. They may even be expecting us."

"Fear not Sir Kane I am young but not stupid. I know a place we can overlook the area before we attack. Once we have a plan then we will show those Kokarian scum the wrath of our kingdoms fighting together."

"Indeed," responded Kane.
