Chapter 8

“No,” Julio yawned politely behind his hand. “I’m kind of tired. Remember, I moved into my new apartment while you were in Colorado and you came back the day after I finished.”

“You didn’t do that all yourself, did you? I told you I could get you some help.” Alexei frowned.

“Frankly, I didn’t want anyone to see my old apartment. I wanted to leave it and my memories behind me. If someone else saw it, they’d know and well…they’d know.” Julio swiped at his eyes.

Alexei had to stop pushing the young man. He’d call Etienne. “Boris will take you home. No sense in carrying your duffle on the subway.”

“Okay, I’ll take the ride and see you at noon. I’d like to see your friend again,” Julio said in a small voice.

“And I’m sure he’d like to see you, too.”

Alexei called down to Boris. “Please take Mr. Reyes home.” He stepped toward Julio. “Can I have Boris pick you up in the morning?”

“No, he’ll be too busy helping Katya with the reception,” Julio protested
