Not far. Another man came and the first one left. Tom followed him.

Gabriel’s penthouse

“Is the Alpha in? This is Alpha Martin.”

“I believe he’s at breakfast. Should I bring him the phone?”

“Yes, please, Rene. I need to speak to him immediately.”

“Alpha Martin, what’s wrong?” Armand asked. “Rene said you sounded frantic. I thought we took care of Alpha Mate Kane yesterday.”

“Yes, Alpha, you did and I’m forever grateful, but I have a residual problem. Hughes. He won’t take a plea bargain and has raised the money for his bail. Murphy said the case against him relies on Kane and a young man’s testimony. They have the boy in witness protection, but he’s been heard today threatening Kane.”

“Gabriel,” this was now a personal issue with The Alpha, “can’t they incarcerate him for threatening a witness?”

“Someone has to catch him at it and they have to convince the court he means it and isn’t just blowing off steam. He’s not supposed to leave the city, but I have a plan.”
