Chapter 24

That meant I had the whole day off and I had absolutely no idea what to do with it. The sound of a key in the door made me jump and the next thing I knew Kate had entered the apartment. I quickly wrapped the blanket around me to hide the fact that I was completely naked from waist down.

“Good morning.” I smiled as she entered.

“Whoa! Ree, you made me jump!” Kate exclaimed, clutching at her chest as though her heart was beating ten to the dozen. “Did you sleep on the sofa?”

She raised an eyebrow at me and looked around as though she half expected to find my playmates somewhere.

“Don’t worry, they are gone,” I told her. “And yes. I think I passed out after all the excitement.”

“So then, you’d better tell me what happened!” Kate came around the sofa and dropped down beside me. That was a first. Usually it was her telling me every last detail about the amazing night she’d had. For once I found myself wanting to oblige her.

“You wouldn’t believe me even if I told you!” I purred.
