Hours later, still unsure what I was getting myself into but unable to resist,I was dressed to the nines and hanging onto the arm of the sexiest man in the room,in my opinion.I had yet to get the answer to my question about the mysterious Justin. All Charlie kept saying when I asked was,“You’ll see.”
The room was filled with every member of high society in town.Their attire cost the amount of money I made in a month, plus tips.I felt out of place, but Charlie treated me as an equal, and introduced me around as a close personal friend.
As the evening wore on,there were numerous speeches,as well as an auction.Charlie placed bids on a few items. The starting amount was ten thousand dollars for each piece.
I was hopeful that the whales,or orphans or whatever the hell this event was for would never have to see the self-satisfied smirks on the faces of the bidders. With the exception of Charlie, all around me I saw patrons who were only doing this for the tax break,or the recognition.
