“I just can’t let you keep it. Who knows—you might get ideas and start calling people, yapping about everything.”
By peopleAlex was sure Nathan meant Ethan.
Alex shoved himself up off the sofa and onto his feet. “No. Fucking. Way! Give me my phone!” Ignoring his nakedness and the pain in his body, he lunged across the table toward Nathan, snatching at the phone.
But Nathan was faster and he easily warded off the attack. He stood up and lifted his hand clutching the cellphone high while the other caught Alex’s wrist and shoved him violently away from the table. Alex lost his balance and landed hard on the small of his back. He stifled a groan behind his clamped teeth, and closed his eyes briefly.
“I’m warning you, Alex.”
Startled, Alex opened his eyes to find Nathan towering above him. Alex’s cellphone was nowhere in sight. Alex grimaced as he struggled to get up.
