Minutes later, Marc was in his car, heading back to the jail, trying to contain his eagerness. Once the good news had been delivered, Marc would get Owen out of there and drive him home. Where Owen would likely thank him and ask him, politely, to leave. Marc’s anticipation soured. How many guys would be in the mood for company after being stuck in a jail cell overnight? Well, if nothing else, Marc would get to show off the GTO. But the exquisite restoration job on the car might not impress Owen in the least. If Owen had been helpless to fix the lawnmower, he probably wasn’t a “car guy.” Damn it.

Wait—the lawnmower! That would provide the excuse to stay at Owen’s house. Marc’s mood brightened again. Yeah, this could work out. 10
