Chapter 19

Curiosity consumed me and I decided to take Amazon Don’s call. Although the club was obnoxious with noise, I held my cellphone up to my left ear and hollered into the device, “Who is this?”

“Donlito,” he confirmed. Same smooth and attractive voice. Same Panamanian accent. The same guy that had spent the night with me when I was bitten by his snake, Butch. The gentleman who cradled me in his arms throughout the night and didn’t take advantage of me.

“Where are you?” I sounded rude and obnoxious.

“Waiting for you at La Selva. I was hoping you would stop by for a drink and we could talk about what’s bothering you. I want to know how I can make this better. I really like you, Casper, and…I don’t want you to get away from me. Something tells me it’s too late to try, though, maybe even foolish, but I’m willing to risk my heart for that, and for you. Men like you are hard to find. Losing you would devastate me.”
