Chapter 5

Evan heard the door open then close behind him. He tensed, but a thought came to him. Good timing. But of course. This Donaghue man must have been watching his movements all this time. The realization made him shudder. What kind of a sick psycho would do something like this? Suddenly dread filled Evan’s heart. What if he didn’t survive this first night? What kind of mess had he gotten himself into?

Evan gasped and his heart began to pound when a length of cloth suddenly covered his eyes.

“Your hands.” The man’s gruff voice startled him. Evan raised his hands a bit. The man deftly fastened the knots behind his head and now Evan’s sight was totally dark. He shifted in an attempt to balance himself, opening his legs wider because he needed to.

“So you’re Evan Foster.”

“Yes.”

“Don’t answer me. Don’t say anything at all.”

Evan closed his mouth promptly.
