Chapter 10

“Mr. Knight,” he said, looking at me as if he were ready to attack. “Were you invited in here without my knowledge?”

I shook my head. “Of course not.”

“Then why are you here?” His brown eyes became slits and he looked as if he could eradicate me with laser beams.

“To learn what kind of relationship you had with Tad Dossner.”

“I don’t believe that’s any of your business.”

“I do believe it is, Coach Bain. The man was murdered and I’m on a mission to learn who took the pleasure of beating his skull in with a Viper helmet.”

“Are you insinuating I murdered Tad?”

“I’m not insinuating anything, sir. I’m merely trying to find out why you loathed the man.”

He looked at the ashtray filled with menthol butts in the center of his desk and crossed his arms over his bulging and fatty chest. “I loathe no one. You’re mistaken. Now, I highly suggest you get the fuck out of my office before I call security to have you thrown out.”
