Danny shrugged. “If I’m gonna be cleaning up after a bunch of coworkers tomorrow, I’d just as soon have fun tonight,” he said.
“Yes, well…you gotta hand it to a man who’s not afraid to break out the Lorez Alexandria,” she said. Danny acknowledged what sounded like a compliment with a small, gallant nod, although Schwartz had loaded the playlist and Danny didn’t know if Lorez Alexandria was a vocalist or a vino tinto. Monica drifted into their conversational orbit, and Hortensia reflexively graciously turned to include her. “Monica here tells me that we’ll get to meet your charming partner as well?”
“Did Monica use the word charming?” Danny asked, letting the large, loaded word “partner” slide by unchallenged. Hell, maybe they’d pay for Ashok to move with him, if they ever got around to that conversation.
“I did, as a matter of fact,” Monica supplied.
“Then I take it she also told you that Ashok is her son?”
