Chapter 34

There was no response when Flynn knocked at Kaya’s and Tanya’s apartment. He tried again, and still no answer. He pressed his ear to the door, hoping to hear footsteps or something. Instead he heard Kaya’s muffled voice. He couldn’t quite make out the words, but her tone was pleading yet calm. Flynn tried knocking one more time, louder, and calling out, “Hello?”

Kaya’s voice paused. Then she said, “Flynn’s here,” along with something he didn’t catch. The door opened a moment later. Kaya was flustered. “Oh good, it is you. Maybe you can talk some sense into him.”

“What the matter?” Flynn asked.

Kaya sighed. “Tony woke up with a bad case of second puberty.”

“Is her—his voice cracking or something?”

“Not yet, but uh…” Kaya gestured to her face.

Flynn winced. “Is he breaking out like crazy?”

“And he’s being moody about it. Refuses to come out of his room until it goes away.”

“I’ll talk to her,” Flynn said. He went and knocked on her bedroom door. “T? You in there?”
