Chapter 46

The department manager, Raul Brizio, wasn’t in when Flynn got there, but he preferred to wait outside his door than go back and face Alvin. Fortunately, he didn’t have to wait long. “Hey, Breezy,” he said, calling Raul by his office nickname, “I gotta talk to you about this new guy.”

Raul sighed. “You too? I assume you’re not here about sexual harassment though.”

“Well, sort of. It’s about my boyfriend—”

“Oh, right.” Raul nodded sympathetically. “I should have known. Alvin has been developing quite a reputation as a bigot since he got here. No one really says much because he’s too thick-headed to argue with and he’s actually good at his job, but he is definitely hard to get along with. I’ve had three women come into my office to complain about the remarks he makes at them for ‘thinking they can understand this hard technological work when everyone knows they’re just here as overpaid secretaries.’”

Flynn winced. “He didn’t say that to Gloria, did he?”
