Chapter 12

It took a few days to muster the courage. An opportunity arose when I ran into him in the bathroom at school. We were the only two there, but it felt awkward to bring up the subject while we were both standing at the urinal. I put on a cool air and said, “Great party this weekend, huh?”

Blake eyed me warily. “Yeah, I guess.”

“Got to kiss some pretty hot girls.”

“…Yeah…” Blake zipped up and went to wash his hands.

I sped to keep up with him, cutting off midstream so I wouldn’t lose him. “You’re not a bad kisser yourself,” I said jokingly.

“Heh, you either.”

My heart hammered in my chest. “Did…did you like it?”

“The party? Sure.”

“You know what I mean.” I turned to face him. His forehead was creased with concern and his green eyes were scared and angry. I lowered my voice. “I did. You don’t have to be afraid to tell me.”

Blake scowled. “Is this a joke?”

“Not unless you think it’s funny.” I smirked. “Come on, prove you didn’t like it.”
