Chapter 19

I put my arm around Carmen’s shoulders as we headed down Sansom Street. “Thank you,” I said after kissing her cheek.

“You’re notwelcome,” she said.

“It wasn’t that bad, was it?”

“No. It was fine. God, your mother can talk.”

“So can you. Clearly, you two had a lot to catch up on.”

“Yeah, right. Leave me and Jill to keep the conversation going while you and Paul eye fuck each other across the table.”

“We did no such thing…did we?”

“I’m joking, Jason. Paul is cute though. I see why you went for him.”

“Then you understand why I have to stay away from him.”

“No, I don’t. He’s dating your mother. How can you possibly want him knowing that?”

“I don’t know, but I do.”

“That’s all kinds of wrong.”

“Don’t you think I know that? I wish I didn’t feel the way I do about him. I thought maybe my feelings for him would just go away, but they haven’t. During brunch, all I could think about was how much I wanted him to bend me over that table and fuck me.”
