Chapter 7

When we got home I changed into some sweats and went down to the basement. The floor down there was split into a home office, my workout room and a laundry area. Back when I originally moved in I contemplated splurging on a pool table, but ultimately decided the Bowflex would do me more good.

As I worked up a serious sweat, I wondered what Brendan was doing. He’d stayed upstairs. Forty minutes later, I gave up. My hip hurt and my elbow was protesting too. I figured a long hot shower and then maybe some ice on my hip would help.

As I headed up two flights of stairs, I noticed that Brendan was sitting cross-legged on the den floor, TV on, computer in his lap. From where I was I couldn’t tell what he was doing on the laptop, but he was typing, so it may or may not have been a game.
