Alastair chuckled. “I’m sorry,” he said. “I guess I should have apologised first. I heard about your little…you know, your little…” He lowered his voice. “…run in with the Department of Justice.”

Julian stared him straight in the eye. “I gathered you had.”

He walked off, further up the path towards M Sector proper.

“You can’t blame me,” said Alastair running to catch up.

“No, I guess I can’t,” Julian replied coldly.

“Please accept my apology.”

Julian glanced at the man. “Alright. Apology accepted.”

Alastair smiled and nodded. “Good. I’m glad we’ve got that out of the way.”

Julian glanced at him again, though he didn’t alter the cold expression he wore.

“So, are you going to tell me what you were doing in those trees?”

“No,” said Julian, suspecting more than ever that Alastair’s questions were more than innocent, friendly enquiries.

“Hey, I thought we were friends,” said Alastair looking wounded.
