Looking at Jesse when he’s smiling like that is a little like looking at the sun.
“I don’t know,” Jesse says, ducking his face in that shy way of his. But from his shining eyes, Trey knows it must have gone well. He sincerely wants Jesse to get the role.
“I’m sure you did awesomely, Jesse. They love you and they’ll call you back, I’m sure of that.”
Jesse blushes, hitting Trey’s arm playfully. “I hope so, Trey, I hope so.”
“By the way, Jess, I…uh, do you mind waiting for a while?” Trey looks awkward, raking his hand through his hair. “I…I have something to talk about with Ted.”
“About what? You know Ted?”
“No, not really, I met him just now and he, uh, he…” Trey falters, not really knowing what to say.
Jesse waves his hand. He’s still smiling but his happiness seems to have dimmed a little, “Never mind, Trey. You go and see him and I’ll—I’ll wait in the car, if you don’t mind.”
