Chapter 46

Barry called for the dog, who came to sit at his side. Rex looked over at Robert and showed his teeth.

“Good boy,” Barry said, patting the dog’s neck.

“Does he bite?” Robert asked.

Barry ripped up the papers and tossed them onto the table. “If that’s all you came for, then you can get out!”

“You owe me,” Robert said, taking a half step toward Barry.

Rex stood and growled.

“Go ahead, take another step,” Jimmy challenged. “Give me a good reason to kick your ass.”

Robert put his hands up. “I’m out of here. After all we shared.”

Barry snorted.

Robert gave them a sneering glance before marching out of the room. Seconds later they heard the front door slam.

Rex whined and Barry bent to comfort him.
