I try to move away from him and end up falling against him instead. “Yeah, no. Do you want to? Maybe by the time we get to the school, I’ll be good enough to drive back. I mean, it isn’t far. Or…”

“Or?” he asks, interested. “I thought you said no.”

“We won’t do anything,” I assure him. Once the words are out, I nod in agreement. “We’re adults, right? I’m a little drunk and you’re probably not much better.”

He grins as he tightens his arms around me. “I’m steadier on my feet than you.”

“You’d still fail a breathalyzer,” I point out. “Hell, your tongue was so far down my throat, you’d register even if you didn’t have anything to drink.”

“I’m drunk on you,” he purrs in my ear, sending a shiver of delight coursing down my spine.
