“Little One?”

Charam turned his face to the voice. “Yes.”

He felt Raum’s hand on his back. “You had me worried. What happened to you?”

Charam lay back down, sliding his body against Raum’s.

“Must have pushed myself too hard,” he replied. “This body isn’t used to what I put it through yesterday.”

“Yesterday? Little One, you’ve been lazing around for three days.”

Charam didn’t show the least bit of surprise. Even now he felt like going back to sleep.

“I missed you,” said Raum.

Charam felt a rush of guilt sweep over him. Even though the darkness hid them both, Charam could not look at Raum. He’d discovered many things about himself in the past few days, done a lot of growing up. Yet this newfound self could not erase what he had put Raum through.

“Come here,” said Raum.
