“We don’t know what’s going to happen after tonight, right?” she whispers at my neck.

My heart beats faster. “Right.”

She pulls back, more beautiful than I’ve ever seen her, soft dark hair framing her face. “Do you still want all the things you said before? College and kids, and someone to share your life with?”

“Not just someone. You.”

With a mischievous grin and her golden-brown eyes gleaming, one of Dawn’s hands darts under the back of my shirt, and suddenly my bra is unhooked.

Dawn and I leave the quarters before my parents return.

“I think we should say goodbye to some of the others and find out if anyone else knows what’s going on,” I say. “I’ll text Z and see what kind of place she’s in, too.”
