“Oh, I don’t think you really want me to answer that.” Lynn laughed as a flush of red passed over her cheeks. She ran her fingers through her chestnut mane, brushing away the strands with a grin on her lips. “And what do you mean I’m right?”

“Well, actually, this isn’t my house. The bureau is renting it for me until we catch that creep.” Alexis motioned for Lynn to follow her into the spacious kitchen with a quick glance over her shoulder. Walking over to the coffee pot, she flipped it on to brew and continued to speak. “I have an apartment a few miles away.” Reaching into the cabinet, she pulled out two plain white cups and placed them on to the counter.
