Chapter 14

Alexis slowly made her way to Lynn’s side. The moonlight shimmered in the glass behind them as Alexis looked up Lynn who towered above her, placing a single hand on to her back. “You have everything, why would you even think of taking your own life?”

“No, I don’t have anything. Sure, I have more money than I know what to do with, but what do I have to show for it? Three houses, five cars, and very few friends. Hell, I don’t even know if I have a true friend. They all want something from me. They either push me to release a new CD, ask for money, and stick me on a talk show I hate, or make a spectacle of me at a gay pride parade.” Lynn frowned, crossing her long arms over her chest as she broke the shared gaze between her and Alexis.

“Why do you put up with it? Don’t you have enough money without letting them control your life?” Alexis moved her hand to Lynn’s arm with a comforting squeeze.
