“Mommy,” Calista squeaked. She jumped off the sofa and rushed into Alexis’s arms.
Katie arched her brow, glancing at Lynn and then to Alexis with a knowing smile. “Looks like the two of you…sleptwell.”
Lynn grinned, kissing Alexis’s cheek and then ruffling Calista’s uncombed hair. “Oh, we did.”
Alexis’s cheeks covered in a crimson flush. “Sorry, we overslept.”
“Uh huh,” Katie laughed. “Sure you did.”
Alexis bit her lower lip and turned her attention to Calista. “Did you sleep well, sweetheart?”
“Yep,” she replied with a nod and a smile. “Auntie Katie ordered room service for us too.” Dishes sat scattered around the living room table where Katie and Calista had sampled a couple different items off the menu.
“I hope that was okay. I had them add it to the room tab because I forgot my purse at Alexis’s apartment.” Katie glanced at Lynn with a shy smile.
“It’s fine, Katie, you can order whatever you’d like.” Lynn’s hand remained protectively on Alexis’s back.
