Chapter 60

The stage ran the length of the left wall of the club, a raised row of tables ran the length of the right wall, and the back was a huge bar, tended by shiny, shirtless musclemen. When we discoed into the bar I thought I had seen people dancing up on raised platforms in the corner of the dance floor, but no such platforms were visible now. I felt a spasm of panic when Josh left my side, but relaxed considerably when he materialized moments later bearing cocktails. Jason, meanwhile, had decided that his night of bar-hopping from one make-out partner to another had been a mere warm-up to prepare him for a night of smoldering, hair-pulling passion with the tiny emcee, and set out to see what it would take to charm the little guy into his hotel room and out of his tighty whities. For his part, Brandon was frantic to find a way to enter the contest, horrified that he hadn’t known it was taking place until this very minute.
