But when he puts back the first box, he sees another marked Heavily Lubricated.Without thinking, he picks it up. If there was one thing Greg skimped on, Avery thinks, it was the lube. There are ten condoms in the box, which Avery finds funny for some reason. Ten for ten dollars. That’s a dollar a fuck. What a deal.


Parker comes up behind him. “I’m getting this one.” He holds out a pink box, EPTwritten across it. “I’ve seen the commercials on TV.” In an announcer’s voice, he intones, “These are real life couples, not actors.” He laughs humorlessly.


Then he sees the condoms in Avery’s hand and grins. It’s the first real smile he’s had all morning. “You and your boy are already like that?” he asks. “How old is he again?”


“Old enough,” Avery says. He’s going to buy the condoms now, if only because Parker’s picking on him. “How old were you when you first had sex?”
