But Travis runs a hand along my arm, a soothing gesture, and his voice is soft when he says, “No, stay. I want you to. Please.”
Every inch of my body aches with want for him. I don’t wantto go but I need to get away from this Karl guy. Can’t the rest of the world disappear and leave Travis and me alone again? Is that too much to ask?
Gently, Travis asks, “Come on, please?”
“Don’t mind me,” Karl says quickly. He passes by on his way to his bedroom, not looking at us. “I just need to grab a change of clothes, that’s all. I think I’ve finally talked Jenny into going skinny-dipping with me.”
When he disappears down the hall, Travis sighs. “I’m so sorry about that.” Taking my hand in his, he kisses the inside of my wrist, his lips soft against my pulse. “Don’t leave.”
