Chapter 24

“When do you collect the car?” Sam asked.

“Tomorrow after work. Do you want to come with us?”

“Wow, can I?”

“Sure,” Mark said. “But we’ll have to wait until about seven o’clock because Simon doesn’t want to drive in rush hour traffic till he’s gotten used to driving again.”

We explained to Sam that it had been a while since I last drove.

“Does the car have a sun roof and everything?”

“Good grief, no. We couldn’t afford anything as fancy as that.”

“Do you think we’ll be able to go out somewhere at the weekend?” Sam asked.

“Can’t see why not. We could drive into the country, go for a walk, and find somewhere to have a meal on the way home. How does that sound to everyone?”

Two voices were raised in assent.
