Chapter 61

“As for the rest of the day, we’ll wait and see what Tom and Cliff want to do,” Mark said. “After all they’re the ones with the car.”

Someone knocked at the door and I got up to answer it. Tom stood behind Cliff, Tom’s arms wrapped around his smaller partner’s shoulders.

“Come in,” I smiled and stepped back.

“Sorry, are you still eating?” Tom asked.

“We’ve almost finished.”

They entered, and I offered tea.

“It’s okay, thanks, we’ve just had a cup,” Tom said.

I stacked the plates and the cereal bowls in the sink; we’d deal with them later.

“Have you two booked the Mahón trip for tomorrow yet?” Sam asked.

They hadn’t, so as we had nothing else to do, we set off for reception where I hoped we’d run into Peter. Glancing at my watch I saw it was almost coming to the end of one of the times he’d said he’d be available for guests. Maybe the What’s On board might give us some ideas of what to do with the earlier part of the day.
