“I didn’t say that,” Adam said, shaking his head.
“Then you would?”
Adam sighed, “I…I…Brendan the point I’m trying to make is you seem to want people to discover what’s going on between us. That scares me. If anyone found out…if it went public we could be ruined, our careers would be over, and our lives might even be in danger.”
Brendan returned to his position against the back of the bed. He didn’t say anything for awhile. Adam was about to say something apologetic when Brendan finally spoke.
“I don’t know why I act like I do, say the things I do when we’re together in public. I guess I’m just so happy to be with you. To have found someone who means this much to me.”
He paused and Adam turned to look at him. Brendan had tears in his eyes and swallowed hard
