“Well, I didn’t,” I snapped. I wanted to rush over there and touch him again, just to make sure he was real. I wanted to hold him again, and kiss him, and hear him ask me to stay with him, but the rest of the company was there with us. I couldn’t do anything in front of the other soldiers.
