“Nothing like it, is there?” she asked.

“Nope. I never woulda guessed growing up in downtown Jacksonville that I’d ever be living on a horse farm and loving it.”

“I’m glad it’s worked out. For both of us. I never could have gotten this program funded unless I had an experienced barn manager ready to go. Tampa Bay Downs was set to sign on but the Department? Whew! They made me dance for my money on this one.” Her eyes went dark and sometimes I wondered how long she could keep fighting all the political bullcrappers up in Tallahassee.
