Chapter 2

On the other side of town, Doug Marshall sits behind a monitor in the back of the computer lab at J. Sarge Community College. He takes two classes this semester—one on electrical code at six thirty and one on basic computer skills at eight. His boyfriend Ritchie knows about the code course, but Doug never told him about the computer one. It’s bad enough he doesn’t understand half the stuff Ritchie talks about, memes and lolcats and viral videos. But if Ritchie knew Doug was actually trying to learnit…well, Doug isn’t quite sure what Ritchie would think. Would he laugh about it? Or would he finally realize he’s dating someone with whom he has little in common outside the bedroom? Sure, the sex is great—amazing, in fact, thebest Doug’s ever had—but what if nothing else binds them together? What happens years from now when they face off across the dining room table over a silent supper with nothing to say?
