Paul sighs. “It’s about you. You. Not Adam Blue, lead singer, but you.Last night I wanted to get your attention. I wanted you to call me today, and I’m sorry if you thought I was playing you but I wasn’t. It was the only thing I could think to do so you’d remember me.”
Adam grins and ducks his head but Paul sees the blush that pinks his cheeks. “How could I forget a guy like you?”
“Yeah,” Paul remarks wryly. “I’m the one from the studio.”
But Adam shakes his head. “You think that’s all I want from you?”
Paul shrugs. “At this point? I don’t know what you want.”
Adam sighs. “I mean, sure. I’m not above putting out for something I want but…” He shrugs. “I’m already getting the deal, right? You said you’re signing us in a week regardless.”
“Yeah.” Paul holds his breath, waiting for Adam to finish the sentence that ended with but.Like he has more to say.
“So this isn’t about the studio, either,” Adam tells him.
